As you progress through the story in Coral Island, you’ll find yourself having to obtain certain resources to craft items. One of these resources is charcoal. Fortunately, it’s really not that hard to craft, though there are certain requirements you should meet first.
Let’s find out how you can craft charcoal in Coral Island in this guide.
How to Craft Charcoal in Coral Island

The Charcoal is one of those resources you will need more often than you expect. You need it to smelt metal in the furnace and for crafting various mid-game recipes.
However, you don’t unlock it right at the start, so early on you might be wandering around scratching your head about why you don’t find charcoal just lying around.
To actually get charcoal, you need to make a Kiln first. The Kiln becomes available after you reach Foraging Level 2.
The easiest way to increase your foraging level is to simply pick up sticks, wood, and forage items. This happens pretty early in most playthroughs as you chop trees and gather materials around the island.
Once you hit Foraging Level 2, the Kiln will then appear in your crafting list. To craft it, you’ll need 25 Stones and 20 Bronze Ores.
You’ll naturally collect both of these as you break rocks around your farm, caves, and in the Cavern. Bronze Ore shows up fairly early in the Cavern and is also required to craft the furnace later.
After crafting the Kiln, put wood into it and it will process it into charcoal over time. For every 2 pieces of Wood, you will end up getting 1 Charcoal.

If you need plenty of Charcoal, simply harvest wood by chopping trees with an axe around your farm and on the island. Just stockpile lots of wood and churn them through the Kiln.
Now, why would you want Charcoal in the first place?
Well, Charcoal is an important resource for smelting ores in the Furnace. In order to make 1 bar of metal, you’ll need 1 Charcoal alongside 5 ores.
That means if you want better tools, better machines, or need bars for late-game recipes, you’ll be burning wood into charcoal constantly.
Alternatively, if playing resource-hoarder isn’t your vibe, you can also buy coal outright from the blacksmith shop for gold, though it’s pricier and only worth it in a pinch.
