If you want to mine Ferrium in Arknights: Endfield, you’ll need to build an even better mining rig.

The standard Electric Mining Rig doesn’t work for this ore, as it’s a higher tier than Originium and Amethyst. You’ll need to unlock and place an upgraded mining rig instead.

How do you unlock and use that mining? Read on and I’ll answer all of your questions.

How to Unlock a Mining Rig for Ferrium

To build a mining rig that works with Ferrium, you’ll first need to unlock it. For that, progress through the main story until you complete “Mystery in the Building”. It’s part of Chapter I – Process III.

This will give you a Basic Expansion Core, which you can use to unlock the Basic AIC III tier in your AIC plan.

Once you’ve done that, you’ll need to research the Mining III node within the Resourcing category. This will unlock the Electric Mining Rig Mk. II.

Remember, you’ll need AIC Index points to unlock nodes in the AIC Plan. If you don’t have them, look for the Protocol Logger tube men across the world.

This new mining rig can mine Ferrium, as well as Originium and Amethyst. However, keep in mind that it does not work faster than the standard Electric Mining Rigs! The ability to mine Ferrium is the only upgrade.

How to Place the Electric Mining Rig Mk. II

Now, using the Electric Mining Rig Mk. II works exactly the same as setting up the standard versions for automated mining.

That means, you need to find an ore deposit first, Ferrium in this case. I’ve marked a spot in Valley IV where you can find a lot of Ferrium on the map above.

First, make sure to place Relay Towers and Electric Pylons to draw power from your base and turn the mining rigs on. It’s a process I’m sure you’re used to by this point in the game.

Then, place the Electric Mining Rig Mk. II on top of the ore deposit. You should have 3 of them if you just unlocked them in the AIC Plan, but you’ll need to construct additional ones if you want to mine more deposits.

With that, you should now know everything you need to set up a mining rig for Ferrium ore in Arknights: Endfield. Just have to wait for it all to get mined now!
