“Unexpected Initiative” is a quest you get from Tian Wen in ARC Raiders.

Tian Wen is worried about what will happen if Celeste is the only one in charge of Speranza’s greenhouses. Being self-sufficient is a good idea, she thinks. Help her start her own little plantation and she’ll cut you in on it!

If that sounds like a deal, read on. We’ll give you all the details to complete this quest.

Fertilizer and Water Pump

For the first part of this quest, you’ll need to find a Fertilizer and a Water Pump. Both of these items are found within the Buried City map, so you can ideally do both at once.

For the Fertilizer, you need to go to Grandioso Apartments. It’s a residential area on the western part of the Buried City, as shown above.

Once you reach the apartment building, you just need to make your way up to its rooftop. You will find some large pots there that you can interact with to collect the Fertilizer.

As for the Water Pump, you need to go to one of the buildings by Piazza Roma in the Buried City. It’s the building directly southwest of the Piazza Roma title on the map, as shown above.

Just like before, you need to make your way up to the building’s rooftop. You’ll find an interactable pump next to a planter there. Interact with it, and it will drop a Water Pump. Make sure you pick it up before leaving!

Now, you need to extract and return to Tian Wen in Speranza with both of these items. You could potentially just put one in your Safe Pocket, just in case. That way, if you die, you just need to go get the other one!

Either way, bring both of them to Tien Wen to finish this part of the quest.

Lemons

Lastly, you’ll also need to get a total of 3 Lemons. As we covered in its dedicated guide, the best place for this is the Olive Grove area in the Blue Gate map.

Once you’re in the area, you want to look out for smaller fruit trees. There are usually fruits on the ground by then, usually an Apricot or Lemon.

While you don’t really need the Apricots for the quest, we recommend picking them up too. They are some of the valuable items you need, after all. You can use them to upgrade Scrappy’s service.

Aside from the ones on the ground, you can also interact with the trees to give them a little kick. This almost always makes one more fruit fall down, hopefully giving you the lemons you need.

Now, while this area is relatively safe from ARCs, it does seem that a lot of players frequent it for PvP. Of course, this is a bit random, depending on who you match up.

But we recommend preparing for that potential threat by not bringing any gear you wouldn’t want to lose. Also, put the Lemons you collect into your Safe Pocket if need be.

That aside, this is the best spot for Lemons, but not the only one. Other areas marked as Nature areas should also have similar trees on all maps. They are less reliable, though, unless the Lush Blooms event is active. So, keep that in mind.

Return to Tian Wen with 3 Lemons and you will have completed the “Unexpected Initiative” quest in ARC Raiders!
