162 articlesIf you’re on the Out of the Shadows quest in ARC Raiders, your objective is clear: destroy a Rocketeer. But this is a hard enemy, and you need to make the proper preparations to fight it. Follow along with this guide for tips and tricks for defeating this tough enemy.
Gearing Up
You will need A LOT of heavy ammo. Make sure you stock your inventory fully. You can store extra rounds in your safe pocket for backup. Also, pack some grenades to deal extra damage when you get overwhelmed by groups of enemies.
You can use Wolfpacks here because they are quite effective. But most players prefer to save them for the Queen, since this strategy lets you defeat the enemy without wasting these high-tier resources. So, if you want to save them for other high-tiered enemies, you are more than able to do so.
Head to the Testing Annex
Once you have all of your gear, head over to the Testing Annex building on the Dam Battlegrouds map. Start heading for the top floor by following the main path upward. You will have to clear out the ARC units and turrets in the area to secure and keep your position and prepare for battle.

When the upper floor is clear, step out onto the balcony and look around for the Rocketeer. The top floor serves as your safe area (or cheese zone). The floor gives you plenty of cover while allowing you to deal damage. The Rocketeer has a hard time hitting players here, making it a perfect vantage point for the fight.
How to Defeat the Rocketeer Easily
Once you’ve spotted it, you need to shoot the Rocketeer and draw it toward your location. It’s from here that you should use a shoot-and-peek approach: fire some rounds, go for cover, and repeat. Focus your shots on the thrusters or side fans; hitting one side will throw the Rocketeer off balance.
Just be prepared for a longer battle, as it takes quite a few rounds to kill the Rocketeer. After you have defeated the enemy, make sure to loot the Rocketeer Driver. This is the main quest item you need. So, ensure that after you loot it, you put it in your Safe Pocket. There is also extra loot in the thrusters that provides crafting materials if you have space for it.
Conveniently, the Testing Annex is close to an extraction point, so once you’ve looted everything, you can extract safely without much trouble. Or, pack a Hatch Extraction Key if you’re worried about enemy combatants.
