Arknights Endfield is right around the corner, so it’s time we start to plan around which is the best Operator to play at launch.
Operators, if you don’t know, are the characters you get to control in this game’s combat. You can make teams of 4 Operators, each one with their own kit and role. Of course, you also get them through a gacha system, so planning is important.
In this article, I’ll give you my take on what the best Operators are and why.
Before We Begin

Before we begin, we want to remind you that this is mostly my educated guess on which characters will be strong. It’s based on what we know of their kits, both from promotional materials and previous tests of the game.
However, everything is subject to change up until these Operators release! The developers seem to be actively balancing them until the last second. So, characters might end up weaker or stronger than anyone could predict.
With that in mind, the two Operators that look the most promising are Laevatain (DPS) and Ardelia (Support).
Laevatain – High Damage DPS Carry

Laevatain is the first Operator that will be available through the game’s limited gacha banner. That means she’s also a bit hard to pull for, as you can’t save up for her.
Additionally, keep in mind that your pulls until the 120-pull guarantee do not carry over to the next banner. The hard pity 50/50 at 80 pulls is also risky, still. So, do not go for Laevatain unless you can do 120 pulls to guarantee her. That, or you could always try rerolling
With that said, Laevatain is the strongest overall DPS Operator available at launch. The only other Operator who comes close is Yvonne, but she has a riskier playstyle that forces her to be stationary for maximum damage. Plus, Laevatain is better at AOE damage.
A key point of Laevatain’s damage output is that she synergizes very well with Akekuri. Akekuri herself is a pretty solid 4-star Support Operator that works great as an Skill Point (SP) battery, so it’s great if you manage to pull her too!

More importantly, however, Akekuri can easily apply Heat Infliction to enemies. Laevatain can then consume Heat Infliction stacks to power herself up, making for a lethal combo! Of course, this works well even without Akekuri, but the synergy is worth noting.
I highly expect players who pull Laevatain to have an advantage at launch. Her damage output allows her to easily carry you through most content, especially with Akekuri. However, nobody knows what her endgame performance will look like just yet.
The one downside for Laevatain is that she is a DPS Operator. That means she’s more likely to be powercrept as other DPS Operators get added. It’s a pretty common tale for DPS units in gacha games, sadly!
Ardelia – Extremely Versatile Support, Free for Everyone

As a Support Operator, we highly recommend Ardelia. She’s an extremely versatile support that fits well into every single Physical team, while also being a solid choice for most elemental teams.
Most notable is her ability to apply Corruption, which she can then consume with her Battle Skill. This applies Physical Susceptibility and Arts Susceptibility to enemies, boosting your entire team’s DPS.
Ardelia’s Battle Skill can also create healing spots, which you can touch with your active Operator to get some healing. She buffs your damage and also heals you! What more do you need?

To make matters even better, Ardelia is a completely free Operator. You do not need to pull for her at all! Everyone gets her as a launch reward. You even get her signature weapon, Dreams of the Starry Beach, for free.
Do not ignore her just because she’s a freebie. Invest in her and she’ll make your progression a lot smoother. Plus, Supports are less likely to be powercrept out of usefulness than DPS units!
So, that’s my verdict on the best Operator to play at launch in Arknights Endfield. Laevatain is likely to be the best DPS Operator, while Ardelia is set to be the best Support and also free. Can’t go wrong with them!
