With the ongoing discourse regarding GTA 6’s price upon release, original Saints Row developer Chris Stockman states that GTA 6 deserves to be $100.
In a recent interview with eSports Insider, Stockman believes that GTA 6 is the only game that can get away with getting priced at $100 upon release. In fact, he even hopes it’s $100.
“The scope and magnitude of this production deserves that price tag, but not everything is treated equally. It would be a disaster if everyone tried to match them.” Stockman stated.

Not long ago, we wrote an article regarding how GTA 6 being priced at $69.99 could be the best option revenue-wise based on research.

GTA 6 Delay Could Cost Rockstar $500 Million and Fuel Push for $100 Price Tag, Expert WarnsNov 8, 2025And while Rockstar hasn’t really commented on the aforementioned research, fans just can’t help but speculate how much the game will actually cost.
Of course, there were some mixed opinions about it. Majority of fans were fine with the $69.99 price point, while others don’t really mind paying for $100. Meanwhile, some hope that it would go lower.

Chris Stockman, however, hopes it’ll be $100 upon release. According to him, if GTA 6 actually gets priced at $100, it could get away with it without having to suffer from any reputational damage.
“The scope and magnitude of this production deserves that price tag, but not everything is treated equally. It would be a disaster if everyone tried to match them.” he added.
Is $100 Really a Fair Price for GTA 6?
According to Stockman, GTA 6 will have a very huge scope and magnitude in terms of production as opposed to any other video game. In fact, there have been speculations that it cost over $1 billion to develop the game.
Unfortunately, we haven’t seen any gameplay video of the game yet. So far, Rockstar has only released trailers for the game, so we don’t have any idea yet how big and varied the game will be.
That said, it would be safe to assume that GTA 6 will be a monumental point in gaming history. This begs the question: Are we actually ready for the game to come out at $100?

Stockman isn’t the only one who holds this belief, though. In The State of Video Gaming in 2025 presentation by Matthew Ball, he mentioned that several other developers are hoping that GTA 6 will be around $80 to $100.
This way, they could justifiably increase the prices of their own games by at least $10 to offset inflation.
According to Ball, “packaged game prices have never been lower in real terms than they are today, even though budgets are at all-time highs and player growth is stalled.”
For now, the only thing we can do is wait for Rockstar’s official announcement regarding GTA 6’s actual price upon release.
