GTA 6 has officially been delayed yet again by Rockstar Games, with a new November 19, 2026 release date. The announcement came on their official X (formerly Twitter) account. They apologized for the delay, citing that they needed the extra months to further polish the game.
This marks the second major delay that GTA 6 has experienced. It was previously slated for a May 26, 2026 release date – that already led to much pushback by fans. However, this additional delay of six months just further reiterates how dedicated Rockstar Games are to getting this right.
What Does The Announcement Say?
In their official announcement, Rockstar apologized for the news and acknowledged how fans had been waiting a long time for the release. They thanked fans at the end for their patience but mentioned how the delay would be worth it.
Additionally, they mentioned how they are doing this to ensure that they achieve the level of polish that players have ‘come to expect.’

GTA 6 Delay Could Cost Rockstar $500 Million and Fuel Push for $100 Price Tag, Expert WarnsNov 8, 2025Being Rockstar’s most ambitious project to date, this comes as no surprise. After all, Red Dead Redemption 2 and GTA V were already extremely ambitious, and they ended up going through many delays too.
Furthermore, November is a month where most games tend to target their releases – given it is quite close to the holidays. So, maybe this release date could benefit their sales as well.
How Has The Community Reacted?
As you can expect, there has been mixed to negative reception from fans related to the news. The previous delay already led to a lot of disappointment and this news only further exaggerates it.
Some fans are suggesting that at this rate the game will never be released. Others have suggested that Rockstar Games should compensate by releasing a trailer that shows additional details.
“If you’re gonna at least delay the game this long you might as well start releasing a bunch of gameplay and trailers cause I’m getting sick and tired of this,” a user commented on their announcement.
However, other fans are quite positive, stating that the game should be released when it’s ready. They have cited games like Cyberpunk 2077 that released too early and ended up being a huge disappointment.
“Take all the time you need.” said a user on their tweet.

It is also interesting to see how other companies will respond to this announcement. Most game releases will be aiming to steer well clear of the release date to ensure that it does not impact their sales.
After all, GTA is a behemoth of a franchise that no other game can compete with at the moment.
How are you feeling about this announcement? We’re curious to hear from you and see which side of the reception you fall under.
