Grand Theft Auto 6’s recent delay has disappointed a lot of fans who were eagerly waiting for the game to finally release after years of waiting.
However, fans might be delighted to learn that there’s a possibility that the game might be ported over to the Nintendo Switch 2.
According to insider NateTheHate, Rockstar Games was doing internal tests to see if GTA 6 can actually run on the Switch 2 console without any problems.
This was after another user by the name of Nash Weedle made a post on X (formerly Twitter) stating that a Switch 2 version of GTA 6 is currently in the works. In his post, Nash Weedle also claimed that GTA 6’s delay was not due to Rockstar making a Switch 2 version of the game.

Rockstar Games Pushes Back GTA 6 Release Date Again To November 19, 2026Nov 6, 2025He also added that the Switch 2 version of the game won’t arrive at launch.

When a user asked NateTheHate what his thoughts are about this rumor, he stated that he’s seen Rockstar Games doing tests to bring GTA 6 to Switch 2 a while ago.
He even went on to say that Rockstar Games is actually making a real “effort” to bring the game to the console. However, he emphasized that “tests don’t always equal release.”
As such, fans should manage their expectations and wait for a confirmation from Rockstar instead.
GTA 6 Might Potentially Launch on the Switch 2
Switch 2 now sports more powerful hardware than its predecessor, not to mention there are already several high-profile titles that will release on the console.
As such, it won’t be that absurd to assume that the information might at least hold a bit of weight.
Interestingly enough, a Switch 2 version of the acclaimed Red Dead Redemption 2 was leaked last week. Moreover, NateTheHate even doubled down on the claim that a Switch 2 version is definitely happening.

Despite RDR2 being eight years old already, it still holds up in the technical and graphical departments.
How well it will run on the Switch 2 will at least give us an idea of how well GTA 6 will run if ever Rockstar Games decides to push through with the port.
NateTheHate also further reiterates that “experimenting doesn’t equal “in development” & companies often test to see if a game is possible on hardware.”
So while it might be true that Rockstar is actually working on a Switch 2 version, whether or not they release it will ultimately be up to them.
