Omens are the ultimate endgame material in Path of Exile 2 as they allow you to greatly influence the results of crafting.

You can start getting Omens once you get to the endgame. Learning how to use them can help you craft fantastic equipment. If you want to put the finishing touches on your build, Omens are your best pals!

In this ultimate guide, we’ll tell you everything you need to know about Omens in Path of Exile 2 and how to use them.

Ultimate Guide to Omens | Path of Exile 2

Omen Basics

It wouldn’t be an ultimate guide if we didn’t start from the very basics of what Omens are in Path of Exile 2, right? Thankfully, they’re actually pretty simple to explain.

Omens are mainly crafting modifiers. You can activate them from your inventory to have them affect the outcome of your next crafting attempt. When an Omen is active, you’ll notice an orange glow around its border in the inventory.

If you wish, you can even activate multiple Omens at once. They’ll all apply their effect if you meet their conditions when crafting! Don’t worry, they’re not used up if you don’t meet their conditions.

There are a large variety of Omens, too, each one having a specific effect and condition. We’ll go over every one of them later in this guide!

As for how to get them, the main source for Omens are Rituals. You can start Rituals by using the randomly-spawning Ritual Altars. Killing enemies near the Ritual Altars will earn you Tribute, which you can then spend at the Ritual Altar for various randomized rewards. Omens being one of the key rewards!

Just be warned, Rituals are a very challenging endgame mechanic. Performing multiple Rituals in a single location becomes increasingly dangerous, as each Ritual resurrects the monsters you slayed during the previous Ritual. Don’t bite more than you can chew!

Alternatively, you can get Omens through the Currency Exchange feature which becomes available after you beat Act 3. However, they’re quite expensive…

Now, with the basics done, it’s time to look at every Omen type and what they do.

All Omens Type | Effects and Conditions

There are currently 17 types of Omens in Path of Exile 2, with 14 of them being for Crafting. Their effects are varied, but their conditions are mostly based on which Crafting Items you use next. These are their effects and conditions:

  • Omen of Amelioration – While active, it will prevent you from losing 75% of your Experience upon death.
  • Omen of Corruption – While active, your next Vaal Orb will be more unpredictable. To know more about Vaal Orbs, check out our guide on Corrupted Items.

  • Omen of Sinistral Coronation – Your next Regal Orb will only add Prefix Modifiers.

  • Omen of Whittling – Your next Chaos Orb will remove the lowest level Modifier.

Prefixes and Suffixes

As you might’ve noticed going through the list of all the available Omens in Path of Exile 2, they mainly help you force crafting results to modify the Prefixes and Suffixes. They both provide extra effects to your equipment, known as Modifiers. Since they’re so important to Omens, we figured we should include a quick breakdown of them!

Every piece of equipment can have a set number of Prefixes and Suffixes, depending on the equipment’s quality. For example, Rare equipment can have 3 Prefixes and 3 Suffixes at the same time.

You can see which Modifiers are from Prefixes or Suffixes by Analyzing equipment within the inventory.

Now, whether you want to use your Omens for Prefixes or Suffixes mainly will depend on what build you’re going for. Prefixes and Suffixes provide different Modifiers from each other and this varies greatly depending on the type of equipment.

Generally speaking, Prefixes provide offense-oriented Modifiers while Suffixes provide more defense-oriented ones. This is a very general guideline, though, and varies a lot depending on your equipment type.

If you want to min-max when crafting, we recommend using PoE2DB to see which Modifiers come from Prefixes and which ones come from Affixes.

That’s the end of our ultimate guide about Omens in Path of Exile 2! We hope this helps you make the most of these endgame materials. Speaking of endgame, though, you should also check out our guide on Delirium!
