Old School RuneScape is still going strong in the good year of 2024, and as is tradition with every special occasion every year, the Christmas event is now here. In this guide, we will be showing you how to complete it, as simple as it is. Just so you know, this is also available to free players, so if you don’t have a subscription or money for bonds, you can still participate in the festivities!
2024 Christmas Event Complete Guide
To get started with the event quest, head over to Falador and look for Cecilia at the park. She is the one standing on the bridge above some ducks. If you have been doing a lot of clue scrolls, she is the one who keeps asking you to play music for her.
Talk to her and she will tell you about her issues with the dogs ruining the decorations and such. This will begin the “A dog’s not just for Christmas” mini quest / event.
She will ask you to head over to Party Pete, who is at the northeast corner of Falador, at the aptly name party room. Talk to him about the rehoming event that Cecilia is planning. After a brief dialogue with him, you will now have to return to Cecilia to get your plan rolling.
After learning that the party room is available and already decorated, she will hand you a bunch of invitations that you need to hand over to the indicated NPCs.
Each individual listed down already, conveniently, has their location stated there in case you did not already know how to find them. Here is a list of people you need to talk to:
Falador’s Hairdresser – He is in the salon just beside the western bank of Falador.
Sir Amik Varze – He is at the third floor of the White Knights’ Castle at Falador, through the western staircases. If you have done Black Knights’ Fortress, then you have already met him.
Sarah – She can be found at the farm south of Falador, just across the road from Port Sarim.
Charlie the Tramp – This is the beggar right outside the sword shop in Varrock, who you probably recognize from Shield of Arrav depending on your gang choice.
Gertrude Fairweather – She is found at her house just south of Juliet’s home to the west of Varrock.
Once you have handed all of the invitations, your character will state that it is time to return to the party room in Falador. Luckily, the game also gives you a free teleport to go there. If you somehow did not get the prompt or willingly refused to take the offer, just head back on your own.
Once you are at the party room, a cutscene will play. This is where you will learn that none of the guests know which dog is right for them. Talk to each invited guest to hear them out and then pick the right choices based on their desires.
Don’t worry if you get the wrong answer, as you can keep on trying until you get the correct one! If you don’t want to try and figure it out yourself, though, here are the correct answers for each:
Sir Amik Varze – “The Corgi in the Christmas tree costume.”
Sarah – “The shepherd dog in the elf costume.”
Hairdresser – “The Yorkie in the Santa costume.”
Gertrude – “The unidentified festive dog in the present costume.” She straight up tells you the answer too.
After matching each guest with a dog, another cutscene will play. Notice how there’s one person missing from the list? You will soon see why in a bit!
Once the scene is over, you will have one last chat with Cecilia and that is all. The event quest should now be over, and you will be rewarded with various cosmetics and a handful of holiday-themed items, some of which can be sold at the Grand Exchange for a lot of gold!
That is all for this event. If you are new to Old School RuneScape, do not forget to check in with Diango at the Draynor Village market. Completing an event like this usually lets you claim free cosmetics from previous events for the same holiday as well!

If he’s not busy working or writing on his personal blog, there’s also a non-zero chance that you stumble into him in pretty much any multiplayer game that has SEA or OCE servers. He’s pretty good at anything unless it’s a fighting game, in which case you’d probably body him.
