You can farm the new Mystic Doubloon currency as you explore The Cursed Mists in New World: Aeternum, but it would be crazy to try to travel the area without any planned routes.

The Cursed Mists is a free-for-all PvP zone, after all. You can’t group up with other players to increase your chances of surviving, and everyone you see is a potential foe. It’s not for the faint of heart, that’s for sure!

Fret not, though, we’ll give you routes you can use to farm Mystic Doubloons as safely as possible. If nothing else, you won’t go into the area without any plans!

Mystic Doubloon Routes | The Cursed Mists Area Farming

Before we start explaining the routes for Mystic Doubloon farming in New World: Aeternum, have a look at the map above. It shows The Cursed Mists region and marks the location of every single chest. Red dots are the big Cursed Hoard chests, while the green ones are smaller Cursed Stash chests. We recommend focusing on opening Cursed Hoard chests as much as possible.

Now, we can divide this map into 3 different sections for routes. Let’s go over each one of these starting from the easiest to the hardest.

Pond Scum Port

The easiest route takes you through the Pond Scum Port on the westernmost part of The Cursed Mists. There aren’t many Cursed Hoard chests here, but it’s also pretty safe as it’s right at the entrance to the region. For this route, enter from the western side of the area marked above and collect chests as you make your way to the eastern exit.

It’s a pretty simple route, with the only threat being that it’s relatively open. This can allow other players to snipe you with ranged weapons, so watch out for that!

Flotsam Gate to Unbound Island

The second route is the Flotsam Gate route, which is a medium-difficulty route. Better rewards than the previous one, but you’re more likely to encounter hostile players! For this one, start from Flotsam Gate itself, which is in the northern part of the marked area. From there, move toward the Unbound Island in the south while looting every chest you can. To finish the route, backtrack to leave through the western exit.

Be warned that this route also goes through a very vertical fishing hamlet, so you can be ambushed by other players if you’re not careful.

Citadel

Last but not least, the Citadel route is the hardest but also most rewarding of all 3 routes. This is possibly the best of the Mystic Doubloon routes in New World: Aeternum simply due to the high concentration of Cursed Hoard chests. However, it’s also deep in The Cursed Mists and the area has a lot of verticality and closed spaces that lend themselves well to ambushes.

For this route, you’ll want to start from the bridge on the west of the marked spot on the map. Then, jump down to the water below so you can start from the bottom of the area. From there, go to the coast up north while looting all chests you come across and then go up into the Citadel itself. Traverse through the Citadel by making your way to the southern bridge while looting everything you can to finish the route.

So, there you have it, that’s a quick rundown of the 3 best Mystic Doubloon farming routes in New World: Aeternum! Make sure to use these Mystic Doubloons at the Well of Fortune to get some top-tier loot. We talk all about it in our guide on how to get 725 GS gear fast!
