There are 30 different locations in all with Defiled Shrines in the Nahantu region in the Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred expansion, and cleansing each one will reveal a different Tenet of Akarat.

This is also one of the new activities in the region, and each Defiled Shrine you clear will also reward you with 10 Nahantu Renown. That means you can get 300 Nahantu Renown in total, just from reading every single Tenet of Akarat!

Now, let’s not waste your time. Read on and we’ll give you the location of every Tenet of Akarat and how to clean their respective Defiled Shrine.

All Tenet of Akarat Locations | Vessel of Hatred

There are 30 different Tenet of Akarat locations spread across Nahantu in Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred, as we mentioned before. You can find all of them marked on the map above, as well as which type of solution they require.

Each one of these marked locations has a Defiled Shrine as well as some sort of simple puzzle.

Solving the puzzle will clear out the corruption from the shrine, allowing you to read the Tenet of Akarat. Make sure to read it before you leave the area to ensure that it counts toward completion.

It’s also worth noting that there’s a common bug with Tenets of Akarat currently. If you reach one of the Defiled Shrines but can’t interact with anything at all, you’ll need to warp away from the area and return. This should, hopefully, reload the area and clear up any bugs blocking your progress.

Regardless, since the solutions across different shrines are almost always extremely simple, we figured you would just need the locations of each Tenet of Akarat. However, we’ll also give you a quick breakdown of what each solution type expects from you!

Light the Guardians (Yellow Cross)

The most common type of puzzle. This one just requires you to find 3 Stone Guardians, all of which are near the Defiled Shrine. Interact with all 3 Stone Guardians to light them on and complete the puzzle.

Mirror the Statues (Green Diamond)

The rarest type of puzzle, only being used for 6 Defiled Shrines out of all the 30 Tenet of Akarat locations in Diablo 4.

It’s a somewhat more involved version of the “Light the Guardians” type of puzzle. Similar to that puzzle, you’ll find 3 unlit Guardian Statues near the Defiled Shrine. However, you don’t have to light all of them this time.

Instead, you have to look for a non-interactable duplicate set of Guardian Statues nearby and imitate them. For example, if the duplicate set has all the statues lit, you just need to light them all!

Do note that the exact solution to these puzzles seems to vary. The Guardian Statues you have to imitate seem to not be the same for everyone, so there’s some randomization involved. As such, we sadly can’t provide exact solutions for each one of these puzzles…

Defeat Enemies (Red Circle)

Who doesn’t love putting down foul beasts and the like, right? After all, this is Diablo 4! To start this type of puzzle, you just need to find a red Guardian Statue near the Defiled Shrine and interact with it.

Groups of Shades of Hatred will appear to attack you as soon as you do. Defeat them all to cleanse the Defiled Shrine and reveal the Tenet of Karat!

Attack the Shrine (Blue Triangle)

Lastly, this is by far the simplest of all the puzzles for the Tenet of Akarat locations in Diablo 4. In fact, we shouldn’t even call it a puzzle, really. All you have to do is attack the Defiled Shrine until the corruption clears and you can read the Tenet of Karat.

Anyway, that’s the end of our guide! You now know the locations for all 30 Tenets of Karat as well as how to clear the Defiled Shrine in every single location. All that’s left is for you to go out there and start cleansing all these shrines. It’s going to take a while due to how spread out they are, admittedly, but you should be all set to do it.

While you’re in the Nahantu region, though, it’s a good idea to complete some side quests. For example, check out the “Tenets of Depravity: Sacrament of the Faithless” side quest!
