New World Aeternum brings a bunch of new and exciting perks to the game for both PvP and PvE. These new perks can help round out your build, or give you traits that you can base your build around.

So to help you get familiar with these Perks, we will be looking at what these new Perks are, and with that, what they provide.

All New PvP & PvE Perks

There are a total of 6 new Perks coming to the game with the release of New World Aeternum. 3 of these Perks are for both PvP and PvE, and 3 are for PvP only.

PvP Exclusive Perks

Engagement with a bunch of enemies in New World Aeternum

Penetrating the Empowered

Penetrating the Empowered Perk

Having this Perk equipped will give you 10% armor penetration on critical hits vs enemies that are Empowered. Critical hits will also lower the duration of Empowers on them by 7%.

Most enemies that you face in PvP will have some sort of Empower effect on them. Empowers are pretty common in this game, especially in PvP. So if you have a decent enough critical hit chance, this Perk can help you deal extra damage and at the same time make your enemies weaker by lowering the uptime of their Empowers.

The Perk is equipable on a bunch of different weapon types, making it very easy to incorporate into many different builds.

Thorny Reflection

Thorny Reflection Perk

Having Thorny Reflection equipped on your gear will allow you to reflect damage when you take a critical hit. The damage that you reflect will be nature damage, and it will be equal to 7% of your weapon’s damage. Other than dealing damage, Thorny Reflection will also reduce the attacker’s crit chance by 10% for 3 seconds. This has a 1-second cooldown.

Like the previous Perk, Thorny Reflection is also a very versatile Perk, as it is good in several different scenarios. Critical damage is very common in PvP, so having this equipped will nearly always be useful. You can also combine this Perk with other Perks that boost your elemental damage to deal more damage to your attacker.

This Perk can only be equipped to gloves and chest armor, which limits the gear you can use this Perk on.

Empowered Cleave

Empowered Cleave Perk

The last PvP-exclusive Perk is Empowered Cleave, and having it equipped will increase your damage by empowering your next 2 hits when you hit 2 enemies. This Perk has a 3-second activation cooldown.

You can use this Perk with almost any weapon that can consistently hit 2 or more enemies with your attacks. Empowered Cleave rewards aggressive play a lot, so if you are someone who is playing a bruiser build, Empowered Cleave might be the perfect Perk for you.

You can equip Empowered Cleave to rings, which frees up your weapon for other Perks.

PvP and PvE Perks

Distained Infliction

Distained Infliction Perk

The Distained Infliction Perk will increase the potency of your outgoing damage over time effects by 15%, and alongside that, increase the duration of your damage over time effects by 5% when you hit a target. If you are playing PvE, this Perk will allow you to deal 5% more damage to AI enemies inflicted by your damage over time effects.

In terms of power level, this Perk is extremely strong for almost any weapon that utilizes damage over time effects. Increasing the potency and duration of these effects will increase your damage by a lot. The Perk becomes even more deadly in PvE, as any base damage increase is very good, even if it is 5%.

You can equip this Perk to a bunch of different weapons, allowing you to use it with any weapon that can deal damage over time. It’s also best to pair this with other Perks that have damage over time amplifying abilities.

Hasted Vigor

Hasted Vigor Perk

Equipping this Perk to your armor will reduce the potency of incoming damage over time effects by 7%. Each additional armor piece that has this Perk equipped will increase the effectiveness of this Perk by another 7%. Taking a hit with a damage over time effect on you will also grant you 10% haste for 5 seconds.

This is a purely defensive Perk, and having this Perk equipped will lower the damage you receive by a lot. Additionally, the bonus haste that you get will also help you a ton during fights in both PvP and PvE.

You can equip this Perk to all types of armor, and having this on all of your armor pieces will make this Perk even stronger.

Unimpeded

Unimpeded Perk

Having this Perk equipped will reduce the potency of slows on you by 30% as long as you haven’t been exhausted within the last 10 seconds.

This is a pretty simple Perk, and it can be effective any time a slow is used on you. Mobility is very important in both PvP and PvE, making this a good Perk in several different scenarios.

You can equip this Perk to Amulet’s, allowing you to equip other Perks on your armor pieces and weapons.
