Carnage Mode, also known as the Land of Carnage or Carnage Dimension, is the ultimate challenge in Disgaea 7. It acts as a sort of alternate version of the main game but with much stronger enemies.
Of course, though, such a challenge is only available to the worthy! You’ll need to complete a series of prerequisites and quests to even be able to play this mode.
In this guide, we’ll take you through every step of the way to unlock Carnage Mode!
How to Unlock Carnage Mode in Disgaea 7
Carnage Mode and the Land of Carnage are meant as a post-game challenge in Disgaea 7, so first things first: beat the main story. This means beating every single stage of all 15 episodes!
After you do that, a new Bill will unlock at the Dark Assembly. Pass this Bill and you will unlock a new Postlude chapter titled Atonement.
Now, go complete the Postlude: Atonement chapter, and yet another bill will unlock. Pass this bill to unlock the Postlude: Reminiscence chapter, which you also have to complete.
Lastly, a third and final bill will unlock at the Dark Assembly! Pass this new bill to unlock the final Postlude chapter, Postlude: Zessho. Just as before, complete this chapter!
That’s a lot of work so far, huh? Three whole postlude chapters! But there’s still more to do…
Completing Postlude: Zessho will unlock four new quests at the Quest Shop, which you also need to complete:
…Win Evil Prizes – Receive The Overlord-Tier Evil-Gacha completion bonus.
Bounty: Item God – Defeat an Item God.
9,999 Moves Ahead – Clear a Super Overlord Class game of Demon Shogi.
I Wanna See The Best – Clear a Super Overlord Class Hinomoto MA Tournament.
Work never ends in the Netherworld, it seems! These quests are fairly simple and straightforward, but they might take some time to clear. If you need help, we’ve got some tips for you!
…Win Evil Prizes
Let’s go in order, first up is “…Win Evil Prizes”. This one is extremely simple, you just have to go through the different tiers of the Netherworld Hospital’s Evil Gacha. Just keep pulling that gacha!
This mostly means that you’ll need loads of RP and some patience, but it’s quite easy.
Keep an eye out for the panel on the left side to see your gacha completion for the current tier.
Once you’ve maxed out every completion metric for the tier, press the “Claim Complete Perks” button and move on to the next tier. Repeat until you complete the Overlord Tier!
Bounty: Item God
Next, “Bounty: Item God”. Item Gods are special enemy units that can spawn as you traverse the Item World, but they are random.
Sadly, we can’t really help you much due to their random nature. However, there are two conditions you have to meet for them to even have a chance of spawning:
You must reach Floor 30 on the Item World.
You must be in an Item World based on a Legendary or Epic item.
It shouldn’t take long for one to spawn, and at this point they shouldn’t be particularly challenging either. It’s just a matter of time and patience, just like the gacha quest!
9,999 Moves Ahead
Moving on, the “9,999 Moves Ahead” quest is perhaps the easiest and simplest of the four quests.
To start this one, talk with the Dimension Guide and select Episode 5: Something Harder to See Than the Future.
Press Square on PlayStation or Y on Nintendo Switch to use Netherworld Sightseeing and visit Casinomoto.
Now, just walk up to the counter and you should find a Demon Shogi NPC. Speak with her and participate in the Super Overlord Class battle.
This is an auto-battle encounter, so you just need to set up the AI to work properly.
The trick is, though, that you don’t need to do anything in this case! Just start the battle and the AI should automatically win for you. If you have bad luck and end up losing, just retry until you win.
That’s 3 quests down, only one to go: “I Wanna See The Best”. You’re almost there, just a little bit further and Carnage Mode is yours!
I Wanna See The Best
For this one, select Episode 4: The Ultimate Martial Arts Tournament Begins. Just like with the previous quest, use the Netherworld Sightseeing feature to visit the Battle Arena.
Next, look for the Hinomoto Martial Arts Tournament NPC in the Battle Arena.
Speak with him and join the Super Overlord Class tournament, which costs 1 million HL to enter. However, you should have more than enough by this point in the game!
The tournament should also be easy as hell for you, as well. Just bring out your best units and you’ll have 0 issues, though you can also powerlevel if you need to be stronger.
Once you’ve cleared this last quest, a new Carnage Guide NPC will appear in the hub. Speak with them and you can partake in Carnage Mode versions of regular stages!
Additionally, you can unlock extra Carnage Stages for each chapter by completing the new Bounty quest line. Nonetheless, your work here is done: Carnage Mode is unlocked!
