SCORN: How to Open the Big Gate in Act 1

The world of SCORN is filled with lots of puzzles, most of which you need to solve in order to progress further. A good example of this is the big gate that you will encounter in Act 1 of the game. It’s basically a huge gate with two mechanisms that you should activate.

In this guide, I’ll show you what you need to do in order to open it.

How to Open the Big Gate in Act 1 in SCORN

As you arrive right in front of the big gate, you will notice two mechanisms. The one on the left requires you to insert your fingers in order to activate. Meanwhile, the one on the right requires the use of both hands to pull its levers down.

From what you can tell, you will need two people to open the gate. This is because both mechanisms should be activated all at the same time. You might wonder how this is possible considering that SCORN is a single-player game.

Well, you can actually find a second person, or creature, in the game. All you need to do is solve the crane slide egg puzzle. The egg at the end of that puzzle actually has a creature that you should release.

Then, you want to place that creature on the seat in the central room.

The gist is to place the creature in the saw room and activate the panel in order to release it from its shell. You can then take it on a little walk until it eventually falls to the ground upon reaching the room with the key implant machine.

When prompted, simply pick up the creature and place its hand into the contraption in order to give it a wrist key. You will only need the creature’s arm with the wrist key to open the door. However, you can also take the creature with you toward the door and place its hand on the mechanism.

Opening the Gate

Take note that the creature walks very slowly, so patience is key here. If you don’t want the long wait, you can instead take the creature to another room earlier on. There’s a room opposite the saw room that will cut the creature’s shell and throw it into the bin.

It will effectively kill it, but it will leave his hand in the process.

All you need to do is take its hand to the key implant machine. Once you have the wrist key, insert it into the big gate mechanism on the left. This will partly open the gate. Next, head over to the mechanism on the right and activate it using both hands.

Once you’re done, it will then fully open the gate.
