Armor is one of the most important things in Kenshi, so it’s a good idea to figure out where to source the best armor from.

Kenshi isn’t an easy game by any means, after all. Surviving alone is a challenge, for both you and your companions. The right armor can help you survive until you start thriving!

In this guide, I’ll tell you where to get the best armor and give you a tier list of which sets I consider best.

Where to Get the Best Armor

Let’s kick things off by talking about where to get the best armor possible first. For that, you’ll need to go to the drowned ruins in the river north of Blister Hill. I’ve marked the exact spot on the map above for you.

If you’ve never been there, these ruins won’t be on your map at all. They don’t get added until you discover them by getting close, so don’t worry if you don’t have them yet!

Either way, once you approach those ruins, you should see a ruined sunken boat in the river. That’s your goal, so enter that boat as soon as you spot.

Once you’re inside, look for Armour King. He’s a Skeleton merchant, and mainly stands out due to his silvery armor. And the fact that he’s singing about himself, too, I guess!

Nonetheless, you can talk to Armour King to learn a bit more about him and browse his wares. You’ll find that he often has top-tier Armor on sale, including Masterwork grade armor. He’s been honing his craft for about 1000 years, after all, and it shows.

That said, the Armor he has on sale is random and it changes every 48 in-game hours. So, check back on him every now and then if you’re looking for something specific.

Regardless, Armour King is your best bet when it comes to obtaining the best Armor in Kenshi. He’s not too hard to reach either, once you know where to look.

If you plan to steal from him, though, do be warned! It’s not recommended to do so unless your Stealth can hit 100 and your Thievery is at 70 or higher. Armour King and his guards are extremely powerful. If you get caught stealing, you’ll most likely get oneshot!

Now, let’s look at the best Armor sets in the game.

Armor Tier List

This tier list is primarily using the armor worn by NPCs as a reference and considering them as a full set. After all, Kenshin has a lot of individual pieces of armor you can mix and match, so this makes it the most convenient to rank them.

The main consideration besides that is also the overall pros and cons of the armor. All armor in this game has some sort of downside, but armor where the pros outweigh the cons is higher on this list.

On that note, that’s why the Trader and Noble sets are far at the bottom in an F tier! They barely provide any protection, making them not even count as armor if you want any protection.

That said, this tier list is very loose. As I said, armor in Kenshi provides a lot of different pros and cons. Some armor will make you better at Stealth, for example, while others are better for combat.

That means that there is no “one size fits all” for armor. You need to consider the pros and cons of each individual piece and how it fits your character and playstyle.

Regardless, I do hope the tier list above helps you as a sort of general guideline on what to look out for! It’s better than nothing, right?

Anyway, now you know where to get the best armor in Kenshi and you have a tier list to help you decide which armor to look out for! Hopefully, this will give you an easier time gearing up.

Now that you know where to get some good gear, you might just need some good companions. For that, check out our list of the best unique recruits.
