As you explore the world of Kenshi, you’ll best get acquainted with the many unique recruits you can find on your travels.

Unique recruits, as you might imagine, are recruits with set parameters. They have their own dialogue, backstory, stats, design, and so on. This sets them apart from regular generic recruits, giving more flavor to Kenshi’s world!

In this article, I’ll tell you about some of the best unique recruits in the game so you know who to recruit.

Beep

Beep | Kenshi Unique Recruit

Of course, we have to kick things off with a recruit I doubt anyone will disagree with! Beep is a fan favorite, and for good reason.

While Beep is far from incredible when it comes to stats, he more than makes up for it with his personality. He has loads of unique dialogue and his charming personality has made him a fan-favorite over the years!

Recruiting him is also relatively easy, provided you can reach Mongrel in the Fog Islands. He’ll follow you around in the town, beeping at you until you talk to him. If you wish to recruit him, you can do so for free! After all, Beep has no concept of “money” at all.

Ultimately, Beep more than makes up for his low overall stats with his personality. One of the most charming recruits you can have, he makes life in Kenshi a tad less bleak.

Ruka

Ruka | Kenshi Unique Recruit

A hornless Shek outcast, and another obvious fan-favorite amongst Kenshi players. She can be recruited for free at Admag, Squin, or Last Sand. Her spawn location is a bit random.

Ruka, aside from having a pretty standout story and lore, is also a fairly powerful warrior. Her stats lean well into being a melee fighter, thanks to her solid Strength and Dexterity. This matches well with her Brave personality!

Overall, Ruka is a great recruit for any player. As I said, she joins you for free, and she’s a decent fighter! So, she’s one of the most useful unique recruits if you manage to get her early on. Plus, she’s just cool, right?

Agnu

Agnu | Kenshi Unique Recruit

The only Soldierbot that can be recruited in the entire game, you can find him captured at the top of the Tower of Abuse. He’ll join you once you free him from his cage.

Uniquely, Agnu works great as a companion to Beep. Both of them have a lot of unique dialogue when put together, which gives you a lot of fun interactions to deal with, especially considering Agnu is largely unable to speak.

Stat-wise, Agnu is also pretty unique in that he has 1 on nearly every single stat. The one exception is his incredible Strength, which is at a whopping 50 from the start. Not too bad for a fresh recruit, all things considered!

If you’re looking to make Beep even more entertaining and need someone with a massive Strength stat, Agnu is a must-have.

Hobbs

Hobbs | Kenshi Unique Recruit

Another free recruit, and one that you can get pretty early on. This crazy old man mostly spawns at the Fishing Village, but can also be found in other areas such as Mourn and The Hub.

Hobbs has many crazy stories to tell. Act interested in his “legends” and he’ll end up joining you. Plus, these legends of his can be pretty entertaining, too!

While Hobbs doesn’t have amazing stats or anything, he is pretty entertaining. Plus, he can be recruited fairly easily and early, making him great for bolstering your ranks early in the game. In fact, he’s the first recruit for a lot of players.

Kang

Kang | Kenshi Unique Recruit

A lot of the other characters in this list, such as Beep, make it due to their charm. They just make the world of Kenshi more interesting with their presence! Kang, however, does not have that going for him.

Frankly put, Kang is fairly boring as a character. He has no unique dialogues beyond his recruitment, although he does have the Crazy personality. Overall, nothing too interesting as a character.

However, the same can not be said for his stats! Kang has some of the best combat stats overall, making him a powerhouse for melee combat and adept at using turrets.

He’s so strong, in fact, that he can even become stronger than your main character at times! Or, at worst, he’ll keep up with your stat growth.

If you want a powerful warrior and don’t mind the lack of unique dialogue, you can find him in the Shek Kingdom. He can appear in Admag, Squin, or Last Stand. Pay him 6000 Cats for recruitment and he’ll happily join.

Bo

Bo | Kenshi Unique Recruit

If you want someone who has mastered Thievery, Bo is your girl. She has excellent Thievery skill stats across the board, while also being solid for combat.

As a key figure within the Anti-Slavers, Bo can also ask squads of Anti-Slavers to serve as your bodyguards for three days. This includes unique squads, such as Tinfist’s, for example.

The catch with Bo is that she can be tough to recruit, but you can meet her in Black Scratch. She’ll require you to be an ally of the Anti-Slavers and have killed or imprisoned certain key figures, such as Slave Masters or nobles.

Alternatively, she’s also willing to join you if you’re an enemy of the Traders Guild, United Cities, or Slave Traders. However, you’ll still need to capture a noble in this case.

Regardless, while she can be tough to recruit and isn’t great for combat from the start, her Thievery skills can come quite in handy! So, she’s always good to have around.

Wrapping Up

So, with that, that’s the end of my list of the best unique recruits you can get in Kenshi. There are still many more recruits to find, so I’m sure you’ll find your own favorites as you play! Regardless, I hope this helps you know of some key ones to look out for.

Aside from good recruits, you’ll need some good armor to protect yourself and your squad! For help with that, check out our guide on where to get the best armor.
