The tutorial doesn’t fully explain some of the quirks of finding the Artifact. For example, it doesn’t appear unless you’re holding the right tool when you approach it. Besides that, some glitches prevent it from appearing at all!
In this guide, we’ll tell you everything you need to know to find your first Artifact in the Anomalous Field during the tutorial. We’ll even tell you how to potentially work around the bugs causing it to not appear.

The Anomalous Field the game mentions during the tutorial is the bubbling yellow puddles right outside the bunker. You should have no trouble spotting them as soon as you emerge out of the bunker yourself.

Once you spot the yellow puddles, equip your Echo Detector and point it at the puddles. It will start beeping as you move around the field, with the beeping increasing in frequency as you get closer to the hidden Artifact.
Having the Echo Detector is also mandatory to make the Artifact appear. It won’t be visible if you aren’t actively holding the detector.
Keep walking around using your Echo Detector and a Slug Artifact should pop up right in front of you. Grab it as soon as it does and you’re done with this objective!
However, some players report that the Slug doesn’t appear at all for them. If this happens to you, you should try to restart the game and your PC/console. It’ll hopefully pop up properly once you load back in.
Alternatively, PC players report that just changing graphics settings to a different preset works. Changing the preset to High seems to work the best, though it might be an issue for weaker PCs. It’s temporary though, so you can change the settings back to your preference after you manage to grab the Slug.
Nonetheless, that’s all you need to know to find your first Artifact in the Anomalous Field at the start of Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl. It’s pretty simple, despite the bugs currently affecting the game. Hopefully, those issues get ironed out soon enough with an update…
