Of course, finding that specific door is a whole task in and of itself! I mean, there are multiple doors that use those keys to begin with. Fret not, though, we’ll guide you directly to the Wormways with ease.
Unlock Wormways Simple Key Door | Hollow Knight: Silksong
Before we begin, we want to remind you that you can get a Simple Key relatively early on. It’s sold by Pebb at Bone Bottom. There are other locations for Simple Keys, but this is by far the earliest and most accessible.
The one downside is that it costs a whopping 500 Rosaries! You might need to leave that one for later if you don’t have enough. That, or start farming for Rosaries if you wish to get it right away.
Also worth noting, this is not the only door that can be opened with a Simple Key. However, it is the only Simple Key door that leads to the Wormways, at least as far as we know. Keep that in mind if you wish to save the key for another door instead. On that note, we’re sure you can get enough Simple Keys for every door, so don’t worry too much about which one to open.

If you haven’t unlocked it yet, you can find it while exploring the Deep Docks as part of the main story. Mind you, it’s only recommended! It’s not necessary, as we’ll detail later in this guide.
With all of that out of the way, let’s go over how to reach the door to the Wormways.
Wormways Door Location
The door to the Wormways is in the top left corner of the Bone Bottom area. You’ll need to reach it by going right to The Marrow and then going up to Mosshome. Then, just go to the left past the bench there, reaching the room marked on the map above.
If you’ve already been there, you’ve likely activated the shortcut elevator already. You can take that elevator by just going a bit to the left of Bone Bottom and waiting for it to drop down. Then jump up from the elevator to reach the spot marked on the map.
Once you’re there, you should see a pair of steel cages off in the distance to the left. To reach them, jump and use Swift Step in mid-air. If you don’t have Swift Step, you can also “pogo” off the flying enemies by jumping and doing a downward attack. It’s harder, but it’s possible!
Either way, platform across until you reach the exit on the leftmost side of this area.
Dealing With the Acid Spitter!
You’ll then be in a long room with a massive enemy on the ceiling. This enemy spits acid at you every couple of seconds, dealing 2 damage! To avoid its attacks, just use Swift Step to dash all the way to the left while staying under the platforms. It’s as simple as that.
Note that you can also kill this enemy if you wish, but it takes a while early on. Just hide under a platform and jump out in between its attacks. Jump and do an upward attack to hit it. You can get 1 or 2 attacks each time. As a reward, you’ll get a Beast Shard item. Consume it to get 140 Shell Shards… not a very impressive reward, right?
Either way, continue left to exit the long room.
Now, just jump across the gap to reach the stone door on the left side of the new room. Use the Simple Key on it to unlock the Wormways region for you to explore in Hollow Knight: Silksong. That’s all there is to it!
For those curious, one of the main things you can find within the Wormways is the Chapel of the Wanderer. Completing that short area will unlock the Crest of the Wanderer, which gives you the classic Hollow Knight moveset when equipped!
