The abandoned hospital in Dar al-Shifa features a locked room that you might have missed while exploring the Sumeru region in Genshin Impact. Inside the room, you’ll find investigation points, extra lore, and a hidden achievement reward that’s tied to the Eleazar hospital storyline.

However, to unlock the room, you’ll need to obtain the Ancient Key, which you can only collect after progressing through the Archon quest in the region. Here’s how.

Dar al-Shifa Abandoned Hospital Lock Guide | Ancient Key Location in Genshin Impact

The Ancient Key is part of the Archon quest “Cry from the Eleazar Hospital”. This will involve a series of subquests that you need to complete in order to progress further. Eventually, you will come across a subquest that prompts you to “go to the lower level of the hospital”.

This is when you need to head over to Dar al-Shifa.

If you arrive at the location and the key doesn’t appear, simply continue the Archon quest, then return to the area. That said, you can find this location just a bit southeast of Aaru Village, as shown in this image:

Enter the abandoned hospital then make your way to the lower section of the building. Afterward, look for a small cabinet near the area where Eleazar patients were previously treated. Interact with it to collect the Ancient Key.

Once you have the key, go deeper into the abandoned hospital until you come across a locked room. This is where you’ll use the Ancient Key.

Inside, you will find investigation points as well as lore notes. Opening the room will also grant you the hidden Before My Time achievement.

Final Thoughts

While the rewards are relatively small, the locked room is still worth visiting if you want to hidden achievement and learn more about the Eleazar storyline. It’s also a must-visit if you’re a completionist.

Overall, it’s a short but worthwhile side quest that most players accidentally skip during the Archon quest.
