This seems very simple. However, what makes this complicated is that the rod of harmony can only be obtained in a world where the moon lord has been defeated. The road to take on the moon lord is very long.

You are required to defeat a few bosses to unlock the moon lord.  To enumerate each. you need to defeat The Wall of Flesh, The Three Mechanical Bosses, Plantera, The Golem, and Skeletron.

Afterward, this will unlock the four Celestial Pillars needed to summon the Moon Lord. Once you accomplished this, you can summon the Moon Lord by using a Celestial Sigil.

He will spawn after one minute after the status message “Impending doom approaches…”.

Finally, when you have defeated the Moon Lord, all you need to do is to drop the Rod of Discord into Shimmer Liquid to turn it into the Rod of Harmony.
