As expected, you will need to do a lot of preparation if you want to successfully defend a village.
However, all those times you spent preparing will be all worth it since you’ll be able to receive a handful of Prismarine as a reward.
Before that, you have to keep in mind that Piglins will attack a village during sundown. So a nice trick we’d recommend is to drop by the targeted villages and loot their village chest even before the attack happens.
This way, you can secure the loot even if the Piglins successfully invaded the village. Their main objective will be the large Village Fountain.
Hence, it’s in your best interest to make sure the fountain won’t be destroyed during a Piglin attack.
Here’s how you can do that.
Start by Building Strong Defenses
The very first thing you should do is focus on building strong defenses in the form of walls and arrow towers around the perimeter of each village. You will be able to unlock even more structures the further you go in your playthrough.
Eventually, you will unlock structures such as protector towers, Redstone launchers, traps, and more that will help you deal with Piglin attackers much more quickly.
If there’s one building you should definitely build, that would be the masonry. This allows you to upgrade the wooden structures in a village to stone.
However, upgrading buildings to stone requires tons of iron, so make sure to farm iron ore veins whenever you’re out exploring.
Check Each Village’s Line of Defense
Once you have built defenses around the perimeter of each village, you will have to check them periodically and bolster areas that aren’t properly defended.
Keep in mind that difficulty will spike the longer you play the game, so one weak defense can be exploited by the attacking Piglins quite easily. This will cause an entire village to get overwhelmed and destroyed.
As such, you want to check if the defense systems are intact. And if there are chinks in a village’s defense, make sure to address them right away.
Focus on Defending One Village at a Time
Unfortunately, you can only be in one place at a time, and since Piglin attacks happen simultaneously, you won’t be able to personally defend other villages.
In most cases, Piglins will be able to invade other villages successfully.
In this case, you have to decide which village you want to protect personally. You will see a countdown on when the attack will start, so before it runs out, make sure to position yourself close to where the Piglins will spawn.
If you have unlocked the Skeleton spawner, you can spawn tons of skeletons and leave them near the village fountain to defend it. You can take the rest of your mobs with you.
As much as possible, prioritize attacking Piglins who are attacking structures, and make sure to rebuild any tower or wall that is destroyed.
It’s actually possible to defend multiple villages at the same time, though as mentioned, you can only be in one place at one time.
Your best option is to bolster each village’s defenses as much as possible.
As time goes by, continue upgrading defenses and building new structures meant for defense. It will take a lot of time and resources, but the payback can be worth it.
