Unlike its predecessor, Tears of the Kingdom allows you to actually make your horses even better!

You will be able to upgrade pretty much every one of your horses’ stats thanks to the help of a certain character.

In this guide, we’ll tell you everything you need to know to make use of this upgrading mechanic.

The first thing you will need to do to upgrade your horses is to get at least one Endura Carrot. You will need it to feed the God of Horses, Malanya.

You can find Endura Carrots frequently at the top of Satori Mountain, to the west of Hyrule Field. Its location is highlighted in the image above. Coordinates for this location: -2299, -0359, 0349.

You technically only need one, but we recommend grabbing as many as you can while you’re here.

Next, you will need to find Malanya hidden in the game’s world. They rest inside a bulb, akin to how you find the Great Fairies.

You will find Malanya in the spot marked in the image above, between Tumlea Heights and the Akkala Ancient Tech Lab. Coordinates: 4294, 3207, 0149.

Approach the bulb and press A to interact with it. A hand will come out and ask you to feed it at least one Endura Carrot. Just choose “Here’s an endura carrot” from the dialogue choices to proceed.

Malanya will be pleased and emerge from the bulb, offering you the ability to upgrade your horses.

Speak with him and choose “Enhance a horse” from the dialogue options to bring up a list of all of your registered horses. Now you just need to pick which horse you wish to upgrade and which stat to improve.

Most upgrades will require you to cook various dishes, so remember that you can learn new recipes at the various stables in Hyrule.

That’s everything there is to know about upgrading your horses! Make good use of this feature to turn them into true stallions.
