17 articlesSimilar to the original, the Resident Evil 4 Remake also features a bunch of puzzles that you have to solve in order to progress. One such example is the church key puzzle which you can find by the lake.
The objective of this puzzle is simple: obtain the Church Insignia that’s locked behind a statue of hands. The only problem is that you have to perform several steps first to do so.
This will help you with that. Let’s get started.
Church Key Puzzle Solution in Resident Evil 4 Remake
As mentioned, you can find this puzzle in the church near the lake. To solve it, you will need to obtain two statue heads from two different locations near the lake.

Apostate’s Head Location
We’re going to start with the Apostate Head first.
You can find the Apostate Head in a statue within the large mural cave, as shown in the image above. Look for a panel with eight buttons on it and a door to its right.
You will need to press the right buttons in order to unlock the door. To do so, simply press the buttons in this exact order:
This should open the door to the right. Go inside the door and you’ll immediately notice the Apostate statue. Simply interact with it in order to collect the Apostate’s Head.
Blasphemer’s Head Location
Next, you’ll want to head over to the small cave shrine which is located on the upper right side of the lake. You can use this image as a reference:
Same as the large mural cave, look for a panel with buttons to open the door to its right. In this case, you’ll want to press the following buttons in this exact order:
Once the door opens, pick up the Blasphemer’s Head from the statue. Now that you have obtained the two statue heads, it’s now time to solve the puzzle.
Solving the Puzzle
As you can see, there are two massive hand statues on both sides of the church insignia. You’ll notice that each of them has a gaping hole in the middle of their palms. This is where you have to place the statue heads.
Interact with the hand statue to the left and place the Blasphemer’s Head. This should turn the hands that lock the insignia.
After that, do the same to the one on the right and place the Apostate’s Head. Once you’re done, it will turn all the hands locking the insignia. All you have to do is grab it.
