You will come across your first encounter with a Regenerator while traveling with Ashley. The only difference with this one is that it grows spikes on its body after taking damage.

Beating the Spikes Regenerator in Resident Evil 4 Remake
Unlike normal Regenerators, the spiked version has visible spikes growing out of its body. Even worse, it will shoot out those spikes once it explodes.

All Viper Locations – Resident Evil 4Mar 28, 2023In order to take it down, you need to use a weapon with a Biosensor Scope attachment. In this case, the best option would be a rifle. This way, you can easily target its weak spots.
Don’t make the mistake of shooting it down until it dies as it will only regenerate. Instead, you have to target specific weak points in its body.
There are a total of 3 weak points in a Regenerator: two near its belly and one in the middle of its chest. Shooting all three spots won’t kill it yet; instead, it will just mutate into its spiked version.
Once it does, it will have a final weak point which is right in the middle of its head. Shot it down in order to kill it for good.
Keep in mind that its spiked body will start to contract before it explodes. Use that time to get away as far as possible to avoid the spike explosion.
