Genshin Impact: How to Open the Ruins’ Gate

Genshin Impact’s 3.6 update added a bunch of new stuff including the new Girdle of the Sands area to Sumeru which is full of new quests, dungeons, puzzles, and more!

One of its new quests will lead you to some ruins that are locked by a gigantic circular date which requires you to solve a somewhat cryptic puzzle to open.

Don’t let the gate impede your progress! In this short guide, we’ll tell you how you can solve the puzzle and gain access to the ruins.

Opening the Ruins’ Gate in Genshin Impact

You will need to open the ruins’ gate as part of the “As the Khvarena’s Light Shows: Nirodha” quest which is part of the “Khvarena of Good and Evil” questline in Sumeru.

Shortly after entering the ruins of Nirodha, you will come upon a large circular rate with a device to its right.

Speak to Nasejuna and he will give you instructions on how to operate the door, though he phrases it so weirdly it’s almost no help at all.

Basically, there are three possible glyphs that can show on the device: a triangle, a square, and something that looks like a “W”.

You have to make it so that the device displays all 3 glyphs at the same time while ensuring that the triangle is at the bottom and the square is connected to it.

Approach the device and rotate the upper gear until it displays the W-shaped glyph. Then rotate the middle gear so that it displays the square-shaped glyph.

Lastly, rotate the lower gear so that it displays the triangle-shaped glyph. As soon as you do, a short cutscene will play and the gate will open!

The finished puzzle should look like the picture above.
