One of the most elusive materials in the game, Algae is required to craft a lot of items and structures. But you won’t find any on the map or in the containers. So how exactly can you get it?

How to Get Algae in The Planet Crafter

In order for Algae to spawn, you’ll first have to build special structures called Algae Generators. In order to unlock these, you’ll have to increase the planet’s heat level to 2.00 uK.

You can check out this guide on how to melt ice from caves to learn how you can increase the planet’s heat level.

The resources you’ll need to build one are as follows: 1 Bioplastic Nugget, 1 Eggplant, 1 Water Bottle, 1 Magnesium, and 1 Super Alloy.

Gathering Algae

After you build the generator, Algae should start spawning in the water near that generator. It won’t be in the generator itself – you’ll have to do a little swimming to gather it. These structures also produce oxygen for terraforming, so even if you don’t need Algae at the moment, you should build a few generators either way.

Better Generators

After some time, you might want to start building Algae Generators T2, as they make a better contribution to terraforming. Not only do they produce oxygen, but they also generate biomass. However, it doesn’t seem like they produce more Algae. Each requires 2 Bioplastic Nugget, 1 Fertilizer, 1 Water Bottle, 1 Magnesium and 2 Super Alloy to build.
