“The Poppy Field” is one of the earliest sidequests you can take on in Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl.

For this quest, you need to meet a man called MItyay in Zalissya Bar and hear him out. He’ll ask you to go to The Poppy Field to recover an item that reminds him of his past life before all the madness with the Exclusion Zone and whatnot started. Of course, though, there’s more to this quest than just that…

In this guide, we’ll tell you how to complete “The Poppy Field” in Stalker 2 as well as every possible outcome for the quest.

The Poppy Field Quest Guide | Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl

To start the “The Poppy Field” quest in Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl, you first have to meet with Mityay in Zalissya Bar. His location is marked on the map above.

Talk with him and he’ll tell you about a religious icon his mother would always talk about. He wants you to recover it for him, offering to pay a hefty sum of Coupons for it. The thing is, you’ll need to go to The Poppy Field to retrieve it! He’ll also tell you that the religious icon is in a root cellar in somewhere in the field.

After accepting the quest, go to The Poppy Field as instructed. It’s far to the northwest from Zalissya Bar.

Once you approach the marked area, you’ll receive a transmission from a man called Pomor. He’ll ask to meet you in one of the shacks to the east of The Poppy Field. This step is optional, but we highly recommend going to talk with him.

Pomor wants the same religious icon as Mityay, and is offering to give you a weapon for it. He couldn’t find the root cellar himself, so tells you to do it. If you want more information from him, you can either pay him in Coupons or complete an extra task for him. However, you’re already reading this guide, so you don’t need any of the information he has to offer!

Finding the Root Cellar

To reach the root cellar, you have to go to the center of The Poppy Field, marked on the map above. The tricky part is that you’ll quickly lose Stamina as you go through the field, which will result in your death if you stay in it too long. You can chug any Energy Drinks you have to revitalize yourself and give you extra time, though.

The entrance to the root cellar is a hole in the middle of the field. Keep your eyes on the ground as you approach the marked spot so you can see it more easily. Jump down the hole as soon as you spot it so that you’re out of the Stamina-draining area.

As soon as you drop into the hole, check the shelf on your left to find the religious icon. Pick it up and then leave the root cellar. Run away from The Poppy Field once you’re out of the hole to avoid dying!

Now, you have two choices on what to do with the religious icon. They are as follows:

Return the Religious Icon to Mityay at Zalissya Bar – Mityay will thank you profusely for returning it to him and will give you around 1000 Coupons.

Sell the Religious Icon to Pomor at The Poppy Field – Pomor will give you the Unknown Stalker’s AR416. A pretty solid unique weapon that comes with some modifications right out of the box. It’s pretty worn out though, so you’ll have to take it to a Technician for repairs before you use it.

There’s no real right or wrong here, so just pick whichever option sounds most appealing to you. Either choice will complete “The Poppy Field”, so that’s all you need to know about this Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl quest!
