To build and craft in the game, you will need to get your hands on various kinds of resources. Some resources can be easily found while others are only found in small specific areas. This guide will give you the exact locations where you can find Iron.
Where to Find Iron (Impure Node)

Now to get Iron, you will need to look around in areas which are Yellow, Dark Brown or White in color. And to mine Iron (impure iron deposits), you will need a pickaxe. The stone pickaxe that you get in the start of the game can be used here without any problems.
