One of the unique aspects of MultiVersus is its Perks System. Perks can enhance your character to help them benefit your playstyle. Perks can be categorized into 3 types: Offense, Defense and Utility. This guide will show you which perks to pick in each category.

Which Perks To Use

To unlock perks, you need to spend Gold in MultiVersus. Leveling characters can earn default perks, but each character’s default perks differ. If you want to unlock every available perk for every character, you need to spend some Gold, and we know that grinding for Gold is a timely process.

Before buying perks for your character, you’ll have to test them out if it fits your game style, and you can do so by playing in Local Multiplayer. Play with your friend or against bots to test every perk available on every character.

With 1 stack, your team deals 7% more damage against the enemy team player with the most damage. At 2 stacks, it doubles up into 15% more damage. Compared to other perks (with 5% more damage only at 1 stack and 10% more damage with 2 stacks), the Snowball Effect still offers more damage at 1 stack.

That’s Flammable, Doc!

This one is for projectile damage characters. It will ignite enemy characters for 1 second with 1 stack and 2 seconds with 2 stacks after you hit them with a melee attack after a projectile attack.

Ice to Beat You

This projectile perk that applies 1 stack of ice for every projectile hit, doubling to 2 stacks of ice when stacked. It slows down enemies’ attack and movement speed every time you hit them with a projectile.

Defense Perks

School Me Once

Considered as one of the best perks in the entire game, it gives your team a 2-second projectile block buff after getting hit by a projectile with one stack, and it doubles to 4 seconds with 2 stacks. This perk is pretty useful since the best characters in-game have several projectile attacks in their combo.

Now, you might be wondering why there is only one defense perk. Actually, there are more utility perks and offense perks in the game, and some utility perks can save your life more than defensive perks.

Utility Perks

Utility perks are considered the strongest in the game since they are ideal for both offense and defense.

Speed Force Assist

It gives 4% movement speed at 1 stack and 8% at 2 stacks. This perk helps melee characters in closing in gaps against ranged enemies.

Last Stand

It gives the entire team at 1 stack 10% more damage when a team member is at 100 damage. With 2 stacks, you only need your team member to be at 90 damage to trigger this perk.

Tasmanian Trigonometry

This gives your team 15% increased base knockback influence and 25% when stacked. Knockback influence allows you to hold a direction while getting hit to influence where you’ll be sent flying. You can also use it to survive deadly attacks.

Due to its effect, this perk allows you to live for a long time. But be careful though, it activates in special scenarios even when you don’t intend to use it. An example is when you get hit by batmans’ upward special and accidentally press up, you will be eliminated earlier than usual. So, if you are not that comfortable with knockback influence, you can skip this perk for now.

Coffeezilla

Within 1 stack, your team receives 10% reduced ability cooldown duration and 15% at 2 stacks. Every character can use it by allowing you to do special abilities faster.

Triple Jump

At 1 stack, your team receives an extra jump after hitting an enemy while in the air. At 2 stacks, you will always have access to an extra jump. Access to a third jump is good for movement, offense, and defense.

If you ever died while falling out of the stage or arena, this perk is one of the best for you. It allows you to chase people down to the upper Blast zone, and it gives you a better way to recover and dodge in the air.
