You’ll need to steal a Commemorative Coin from the tavern building’s foundation as part of the “Warding Off Evil” quest in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2.
Johann Parler is in charge of building a church and wants to give it some extra protection. However, he couldn’t get his hands on the talismans he wanted. So, instead, he asks good ol’ Henry to steal 3 talismans around the city and forge a Protective Axe with them. The Commemorative Coin in the tavern is one such talisman!
In this guide, we’ll tell you how to reach the Commemorative Coin’s hidden compartment in the Hangman Halter Tavern’s foundations for this quest.
Steal the Coin from the Building’s Foundation | Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 – “Warding Off Evil” Quest
To start, you need to follow the in-game objective marker for the quest. It will take you to the Hangman’s Halter Tavern in Kuttenberg City, as shown above.
Enter the Tavern and look for a door under the stairs. This door will lead you to the basement. As far as we’ve seen, this door is always unlocked. As such, you shouldn’t need to use Lockpicks or hunt down any key. It’s quite convenient, really!
Once you open the door, go down the stairs into the basement. Then, go all the way to your right.
You should end up looking at a wall that seems to have some loose stones. Interact with it and Henry will take out a couple of stones, revealing a hidden compartment.
Interact with the hidden compartment to rob it. The only thing inside is the “Commemorative Coin” that you need for this quest. Pick it up and you’re all done!
That’s all you need to do to complete the “Steal the Coin from the Building’s Foundation” objective during the “Warding Off Evil” quest in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2. If you already have the other items Johann Parler needed, go to the Blacksmith and use them to forge a Protective Axe. Give him the axe to finish the quest.
This isn’t the only quest in Kuttenberg City that requires you to steal a thing or two, however. “Ars Dimicatoria” is another one. If you’re doing that one too, let us help you steal Kutternberg Brotherhood’s sword for it.

Few things exemplify his wide variety in gaming tastes as the fact that he’s a big fan of both Souls games and the Atelier series at the same time. Also a big fan of Yakuza/Like a Dragon, Deadly Premonition, Zero Escape, and Dead Rising, among others. Considers Lost Judgment and Sekiro to both be masterpieces.
