Fast traveling in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 can save you a lot of real-life time, but have you ever wondered if you can also save in-game time by using a horse to go faster? On paper, that should definitely help, right? But is that really how the fast travel system works in this game? Well, this guide will try to answer that question for you!
Does Fast Traveling on a Horse Make You Go Faster?
Just to give you a quick answer: No. Mounting a horse does not seem to make you move through the map faster than if you were on foot whenever you initiated fast travel.
However, it’s important to note that tests show somewhat inconsistent results. Frankly put, the fast travel time in this game seems to be somewhat inconsistent!
Further proof of this inconsistency is that sometimes you will appear on foot after fast travel. That happens even though you were on your horse before starting fast travel! Other times, although seemingly rarely, you’ll still be on horseback.
Some have mentioned that galloping right before you start fast traveling could have an effect. If nothing else, it seems to make you more likely to be on your horse at the end of the fast travel.
Framerate is another factor that some players bring up, adding to the inconsistency. If you are playing at higher framerates, fast travel seems to be faster than on lower framerates.

Speed-wise, Henry’s equipped armor weight is also said to be another factor. So, changing to a lighter set might help speed up fast travel. Do note, though, fast travel seems to always take more in-game time than riding your horse normally. However, there is no clear indication of this mechanic in the game itself.
Also, you do not gain horsemanship EXP through the fast travel system. Because of this, you might want to consider going around manually anyway. It’s faster if in-game time is a concern, and you’ll get Horsemanship EXP.
With that tip in mind, make sure to check out our guide on the ten best horses with good stats as well. Some of these specialize in pure mobility, which can allow you to travel through the map in lightning quick speeds. Just keep in mind that free mounts, like Pebbles and Herring, start off slow but can be significantly improved through manual training!
Ultimately, though, fast traveling speed in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 seems to be inconsistent and mounting a horse does not make you go faster.
