Ranamon, translated as Lanamon in Digimon Story Time Stranger, is a unique Digimon thanks to her ability to perform a Mode Change into Calamaramon. Unlike a standard Digivolution that locks your Digimon into its new form, Mode Change lets you freely switch back and forth between Ranamon and Calamaramon whenever you want. This gives you two playstyles in one Digimon, making her a powerful and flexible choice for your team.

To unlock this transformation, you’ll first need to evolve Gizamon into Ranamon, and then meet the conditions to activate Calamaramon’s Mode Change. Here’s the complete step-by-step process.

How to Get Gizamon in Digimon Story Time Stranger

The first step to obtaining Ranamon is unlocking Gizamon. The easiest way is to start from the very beginning with Gomamon as your starter.

Steps to unlock Gizamon

1.Start with Gomamon: Choose Gomamon as your starter when you begin the game.

How to Unlock Calamaramon Through Mode Change

Ranamon is special because she doesn’t follow a standard Digivolution tree. Instead, she unlocks a Mode Change into Calamaramon. Unlike a normal Digivolution, a Mode Change is not permanent, you can freely transform back and forth between Ranamon and Calamaramon at any time once you have Ranamon on your team.

To use the Mode Change, open the Digimon menu, select Ranamon (Lanamon), and choose the Mode Change option.

From that point forward, you’ll be able to instantly switch between Ranamon and Calamaramon whenever you like, giving you two playstyles in one Digimon.

You can also switch forms directly in battle by using their special signature attacks:

  • Titanic Charge changes Ranamon into Calamaramon.
  • Rain Stream changes Calamaramon back into Ranamon.

This means you can adapt on the fly in the middle of combat, swapping between speed and magic (Ranamon) or raw power and durability (Calamaramon).

Why You Should Use Ranamon & Calamaramon

Ranamon and Calamaramon offer incredible flexibility since you’re essentially getting two Digimon in one slot.

  • Ranamon: Fast, evasive, and focused on water-based magical attacks.
  • Calamaramon: A slower but much stronger form with devastating physical power and higher durability.

Being able to freely swap between forms lets you adapt to different encounters. Use Ranamon for speed and magic-focused fights, then switch to Calamaramon when you need a tankier, hard-hitting powerhouse.
