An important part of the main story for the new summer event in Genshin Impact is to help out the various forest dwellers alongside Nilou, the Forest Fairy.

The fairytale world of Simulanka is extremely charming, but it’s not without its share of problems. Good thing the Travelers are always willing to lend a helping hand, right?

In this guide, we’ll help you and Nilou make things better for the forest dwellers in Genshin Impact 4.8’s summer event!

You’ll be able to start helping the forest dwellers with Forest Fairy Nilou once you reach the new Simulanka region for the current summer event. If you haven’t yet, check out our guide on how to get to Simulanka!

Follow the main “The Story Begins in a Forest Without Rain” quest  and you will be tasked with helping three different groups of forest dwellers. It doesn’t matter which order you tackle them in, but you need to help out all three! Let’s go over all three of these groups of forest dwellers now, Traveler.

Citrus and Grandpa Almond

Citrus and Grandpa Almond location

This objective takes place in the Kingdom of Breezes and Bells in Simulanka, marked in the image above.

Citrus and Grandpa Almond

Approach there to see a paper alpaca named Citrus talking with Forest Elder Almond, a hamster. Apparently, Citrus isn’t feeling too good and is unable to help Almond with reopening the Calligraphy Tavern. Thankfully, you’re here to help!

To help this pair of forest dwellers, you have to get behind Citrus and pull her tail. While grabbing it, move to the left and right to make her rotate in place. Move toward and away from Citrus to make her lower or raise her neck, respectively.

Citrus minigame objective

Your goal here is to move Citrus so that her head is directly in front of any hamsters holding fruit. Citrus will grab the fruit with her mouth when you position her properly.

While Citrus is holding the fruit, rotate her toward the barrel with a siphon on the right. She’ll drop the fruit into the siphon, and then a new set of hamsters will appear!

Repeat the process a couple of times and you’ll complete the objective. Make sure to open up the chest and claim your rewards before you proceed to the next objective!

Hamsters and the Magic Tonic

Hamsters and the Magic Tonic location

For this objective, go to the Hut of Blessings in the eastern part of Simulanka. We’ve marked it on the map above for you!

Once you go there, you’ll find a pair of hamsters arguing over an issue with some pipes. Apparently, the pipes aren’t placed properly, which is preventing them from properly obtaining a Magic Tonic. As usual, it’s up to your Traveler to set things right…

Hamsters and the Magic Tonic pipes

To start, face the pipes and you should notice there are three interactable spots. A cross-shaped pipe on the left, an L-shaped pipe in the middle, and another L-shaped pipe on the right side.

L-shaped pipes set

First of all, rotate both of the L-shaped pipes so that they’re properly connected to the rest of the pipes. It should look like the image above.

Cross-shaped pipe set

Then, rotate the cross-shaped pipe so that it’s connected to the larger set of pipes. Just like before, use the image above as a reference.

Let the Magic Tonic flow!

Once you’ve set things right, tell the hamster on the rightmost part of the pipes to “let the Magic Tonic flow!”. You should now notice a glowing light traveling through the pipes slowly. As soon as it starts to flow, go back to where the cross-shaped pipe is!

Last second cross-shape pipe turn

Wait for the Magic Tonic to go through the cross-shaped pipe once, then rotate it again so that it actually connects to the end of the pipeline. You have to time it right, but the Magic Tonic is slow so it should be pretty easy.

The objective will be completed as soon as the Magic Tonic leaves the pipes and drops into a container. Objective completed! Remember to open the rewards chest before you leave, too.

Paper Frogs at Rainsong Pond

Paper Frogs at Rainsong Pond location

This objective requires you to meet up with the dancing paper frogs at the Rainsong Pond in Simulanka, shown on the map above.

Paper Frogs at Rainsong Pond

The frogs are trying to rehearse for a performance but one of the frogs, Stream, has a poor sense of rhythm. We hope you have a better sense of rhythm, Traveler, because it’s time to help out! Talk with the lead frog, Firecracker, when you’re ready.

Stream's rhythm minigame

For this minigame, you simply need to command Stream to jump on time. He’s the rightmost frog and you’ll need to follow the same timing and rhythm as the other 3 frogs. The timing is pretty lenient and you’re allowed to fail the timing up to 4 times before you’re forced to retry.

It’s pretty simple either way, just pay attention to the rhythm set by the other frogs.

Stream's rhythm minigame part 2

When there are about 20 seconds left in the timer, hamsters will appear on the lower level in front of the frogs. Pay attention to them and their rhythm as well as the frogs. The hamsters will turn around in groups at set times, which the frogs have to imitate with their jumps.

Like before, however, you just need to pay attention and get the timing down for Stream!

If you’ve followed our guide in order, this is the final group of forest dwellers you need to help with Nilou in Genshin Impact. Make sure to claim your rewards from the chest, then check out the other quests for this event. For example, you can go do the “Stirred Against the Storm” quest!
