Enshrouded: How to Get the Carpenter

There’s a lot for players to discover and explore in the world of Enshrouded. Some of the most important locations you can find in Enshrouded are the ancient vaults, where you will find survivors who can help you in various different ways.

In total, there are 5 survivors you can find in 5 different vaults. The one we will be focusing on is the Carpenter, an essential NPC that gives you access to new items and upgrades.

We will be looking at where to find the ancient vault, and how to free the Carpenter inside the ancient vault.

How to Get the Carpenter

Location of the Ancient Vault

You can find the “Ancient Vault – Carpenter” marker near the bottom right of your map. Like most places in Enshrouded, the fastest way to get there is by using your glider.

Access any ancient spire that you have unlocked closest to the Carpenter’s Ancient Vault. From this ancient spire, you can glide towards your marker.

Entering the Vault

Once you get close to the vault entrance, you will become enshrouded in the shroud. It’s important to note that throughout your journey in the Carpenter’s ancient vault, you will be in the shroud.

So make sure you have resources and upgrades that can help you within the shroud. You can check out our guide on resetting Enshrouded time to help you last longer inside the shroud.

Once you enter the vault, you will be greeted by a large underground cave-like area. This area is scattered with glowing rocks across the floor and walls. What you have to worry more about in this area are the enemies you encounter.

The enemies you will encounter here are large insects and flying wraiths. As you are under a time constraint due to the shroud, you can just choose to ignore these enemies and run past them.

Finding your way inside the vault is straightforward, as the journey is pretty linear. You need to keep going forward until you reach a dead end and are greeted by a wall blocking your path.

Going Through the Wall

Once you reach the wall blocking your way forward, you have to break the wall to progress further. This can be done in 2 ways.

The first way is to simply use a Pickaxe to hit the wall until it starts to break.

The second way, and the much quicker and cooler way, is to open the wall using explosives. You can do this by using an explosive powder ball on the wall. To completely open the wall, you will need 2 of these explosive balls.

Upon opening the wall, you will be greeted by a hostile wraith. To take the wraith down, you can use the wall you just opened to your advantage and use ranged weapons like the bow.

Awakening the Carpenter

After defeating the wraith, the only thing left to do is rescue the Carpenter. For this, all you need to do is go up to the Carpenter’s pod and interact with it to free him.

The pod with the Carpenter is the one with the purple smoke around it. Once you awaken the Carpenter, you can interact with him back at your base.

What Does Unlocking the Carpenter Do?

Rescuing the Carpenter will give you access to various pieces of furniture for your base and some other essential structures.

The Kiln is a very useful unlock in Enshrouded. Having the Carpenter allows you to craft the Kiln and use it to further progress the game.
