Secrets are not uncommon in Cuphead, even more so in its newest DLC, The Delicious Last Course. One particular secret comes in the form hidden relic known as the Divine Relic. Due to the lengths you have to go through just to obtain it, it’s not surprising how powerful this relic is.

In fact, the charm is so powerful that it even has a dedicated achievement/trophy that you can unlock after empowering it. If you’re wondering how you can unlock that achievement, this guide is for you.

How to Empower the Divine Relic Trophy Guide in Cuphead DLC

The achievement we have in question is the Paladin achievement which you can get after you “obtain great power”. To achieve this, you have to empower the Cursed Relic in order to change it into the Divine Relic.

First off, let’s have a brief overview of how you can obtain the Cursed Relic. Here are the steps you want to follow:

  1. Purchase the Broken Relic from Porkrind
  2. Solve the graveyard puzzle
  3. Defeat the secret Angel and Demon boss while equipping the Broken Relic

After completing all three steps, the Broken Relic will then change into the Cursed Relic.

Empowering the Relic

Now here’s the thing with the Cursed Relic. It’s literally cursed as the name implies. Basically, when you equip the charm, your HP will be down to 1. Apart from that, you will also randomly switch between charms and weapons each time you dash. In a way, the charm tends to make an already hard game even harder.

Luckily, you can actually turn it into something useful by upgrading it into the Divine Relic. With the Divine Relic, your health will no longer be limited to 1. You will still randomly swap between charms and weapons each time you dash, but they now have the added benefits of several charms.

First is the effect of the Heart Ring which grants you 1 HP each time you make a successful parry on the first, third, and sixth. Second is the Whetstone which lets you use your parries to damage your enemy. Third is the Smoke Bomb which lets you perform a dash to avoid any damage. And lastly, a watered-down Coffee which fills the meter by around 2%.

To empower the Cursed Relic, you have to defeat a total of 7 bosses with the charm equipped. They can be either from the base game or the DLC. After that, you will then receive the Paladin trophy shortly.
