All companions in Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader get their own epilogue ending once you beat the game, giving a nice epilogue to your adventures with them.

However, the companion endings only show if you actually meet the companions. To view all endings, you’ll need to recruit and keep all companions in your retinue. Your convictions, romances, and main story decisions can also affect how their endings play out.

In this guide, we’ll tell you how to recruit all potential companions and ensure that you witness the ending for them in Rogue Trader.

How to View the Ending for All Companions in Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader

All of your companions will receive endings once you beat the game, as long as you recruited them. However, these endings will change depending on your actions, of course.

Specifically, their outcomes would depend on your alignment path, Companion quest resolutions, romance choices, a companion’s loyalty to you, and certain decisions you make in the late game.

The main thing, though, is that you should make sure to recruit every single companion if you wish to see all of their endings. Additionally, and this is a bit of a spoiler, you should avoid going too deep into the Heretical path.

Argenta in Combat

If you are too much of a Heretic, most of your companions will abandon you later in the game! This will prevent you from seeing most of their endings once you beat the game.

You’ll receive these quests automatically as long as you have your companions with you, and they’ll allow you to get to know them better and help them.

Romances also affect several endings, especially for Cassia, Heinrix, Jae, and Yrliet. Lastly, some companion interactions were known to behave inconsistently in older versions of the game, especially in heavily modded playthroughs.

If you want the most reliable epilogue results, it’s recommended to finish the game on an updated version without major mods that alter progression.

Abelard

Completing their quests will, additionally, unlock their true endings in the epilogue!

Considering that meeting your companions is the most important part of seeing their endings, let’s go over how to recruit all your companions!

Prologue, Act 1 & Act 2 Companions

Pasqal

Most of the companions in the prologue and the first two acts will basically join you as soon as you meet them.

However, you might still end up missing some of them if you refuse them outright or ignore their quests. You don’t need to do anything special except for Jae, which we’ll cover in her section.

Now, let’s go over how to get all of the companions up to Act 2:

  • Abelard Werserian – Instantly joins you during the tutorial.
  • Idira Tlass – Joins you during the tutorial, after Abelard.
  • Sister Argenta – Also joins you during the tutorial, after Idira.
  • Cassia Orsellio – Joins you at the end of Act 1, in Eurac V. She can’t be missed.
  • Pasqual Haneumman – Recruited at the Starport in Rykad Minoris during Act 1. He can’t be missed as he’s part of the main story, so just ask him to join once you meet him.
  • Heinrix Van Calox – Recruited at the Electrodynamic Cenobium on Rykad Minoris during Act 1. You’ll meet him through the main story, just ask him to join after the initial meeting.
  • Yrliet Lanaevyss – You’ll meet her as part of the main story in Janus during Act 2. Ask her to join you after the initial meeting.
  • Jae Heydari – You’ll meet her when you visit the Palace on Footfall in Act 2. Find her in the Shadow Quarters bar after the palace meeting and complete the quest she gives you. She’ll be recruitable after the quest.

Act 3 Companions

Ulfar

There are two companions in Act 3, and they will be the last ones to join your retinue. Unlike the previous ones, these two require a lot more work on your part! But, here’s how to get them:

Ulfar – Met in Commorragh during Act 3. Win the first battle in the arena to get access to the Anatomical Opera, where you’ll meet Ulfar in a cage.

Speak to Tervantias the Archmachinator and trade him a monster part. Then, choose the following dialogue options to recruit Ulfar:

  • “I would like to take the Space Marine you keep in a cage.”
  • “With him, I would definitely succeed. It would further both of our interests.”
  • “Sure the loss of some mon-keigh could never impede the work of a mind as great as yours.”
Marazhai

Marazhai Aezyrraesh – Met at the Anatomical Opera in Commorragh during Act 3. Win the first arena battle to be able to speak with Tervantias the Archmachinator.

Then, choose the following dialogue choices:

  • [Snap the Elucidator shut and address Marazhai]: “I want to talk to you.”
  • “I saw what happened at the trial. You were tricked.”
  • “You are trapped. I am trapped. We could help each other.”
  • “Let’s make a deal: you help me take out my enemies, and I shall help you take out yours.”

Then, complete the next arena match and Marazhai will appear.

Choose “[Look Marazhai in the eye] “My offer still stands. Will you consider switching sides?” here and then win the battle with Marazhai’s help.

You can recruit him at The Pit in Commorragh after the battle.

Companions Exclusive to Your Alignment Path

Aside from the main characters you can recruit, Rogue Trader also includes companions who are tied to your alignment path. However, keep in mind that they’re only available in specific routes and can affect later ending variations.

They’re as follows:

  • Calligos Winterscale – Primarily tied to the Iconoclast route.
  • Incendia Chorda – Associated with Dogmatic choices.
  • Uralon – Exclusive to Heretical progression.

Since they depend on your conviction alignment, it is impossible to recruit all of them in a single playthrough.

How Companion Endings Work in Rogue Trader

How Companion Endings Work in Rogue Trader

True to Warhammer 40K fashion, companion endings in Rogue Trader are intentionally grimdark and often bittersweet. This remains true even when you make supportive choices throughout the campaign.

Even if you complete a companion’s questline, it doesn’t always mean that you’ll get a traditionally “good” ending. What it does instead is unlock the best possible variation for that character.

Some companions also influence each other’s epilogues.

For example, rivalries, romances, betrayals, and ideological conflicts can all alter the final slides depending on who survives and remains loyal to you by the end of the game.

If you want to increase your chances of seeing the most complete companion epilogues, here’s what I’d recommend:

  • Recruit every available companion
  • Finish companion quests before progressing major story acts
  • Avoid extreme conviction choices unless you intentionally plan on roleplaying them
  • Maintain loyalty with companions whose beliefs oppose your alignment
  • Keep manual saves before major story decisions

Now, that should complete the list of recruitable companions in the game! With your party now full of every unique named companion, you just need to beat the game to witness all companion endings.

Though remember, the specifics of their endings will change depending on how you handle their personal quests. Romancing your companions will also change some parts of their endings!
