News regarding the comeback of Halo has been going around for a while now. And with Halo Studios set to reveal what they’ve been working on in the upcoming Halo World Championship this October 24, fans can’t help but get excited.
While there’s no confirmation from Halo Studios yet, multiple reports suggest that it’ll likely be a remake of Halo: Combat Evolved alongside a new multiplayer game.
At the same time, there seems to be rumors of the use of generative AI in those games.

According to a leak from known Halo insider Rebs Gaming, “generative AI is apparently woven into every aspect of development.”
Rebs Gaming said that an insider he know who has connection to Microsoft claims that generative AI has been responsible for majority of the games’ development. This even included things like enemy AI and terrain generation.
The insider claims that generative AI isn’t just used for tasks like “scheduling things or writing emails” but also on actual game development.
So what does this tell us?
Well, if the leaks are to be believed, it could mean a worrying future in the game development industry, especially since this is Microsoft we’re talking about.

Why Generative AI Might Have Been Used in the Development
Rebs Gaming believes that this insider information could actually carry weight.
After all, vice chair and president of Microsoft Brad Smith stated in the official Microsoft blog the company’s vision for technology success through the help of AI.
“In FY 2025, Microsoft is on track to invest approximately $80 billion to build out AI-enabled datacenters to train AI models and deploy AI and cloud-based applications around the world.” Smith stated.
According to the insider, the main reason why generative AI has been heavily used in the development of the rumored games is due to tighter deadlines.
“Developers are expected to meet similar or quicker deadlines, and the only means to do so is through the use of generative AI.”
Apart from this rumor, Rebs Gaming also talked about the potential multiplayer Halo game which will be a live-service title like Fortnite.
That said, as with any rumor, it’s best to take this with a grain of salt and wait for official confirmation from Halo Studios and Microsoft themselves.
