Dead Island 2 has 6 different playable characters, each one with their own unique innate skills.
You can’t switch characters once you start a playthrough with one of them, which means you should be sure of who you pick when starting the game.
In this guide, we’ll break down all the playable characters and what sets them apart from the others.
Jacob
A man with a rockstar attitude, Jacob’s playstyle is all about staying on the offensive.
His first innate skill is Frenzy which gives him a stackable damage boost when attacking repeatedly. His second skill is Critical Gains which makes his critical hits deal more damage while his stamina is low.
On top of that, he will regain some stamina while dealing with critical hits. Both of these skills define Jacob as a pure offense character.
You don’t want to stop swinging even when your stamina is low!
Amy
A former paralympic athlete, Amy is a thrill-seeker by nature who’s always seeking a challenge to overcome.
Her innate skill, Relief Pitcher, makes her regain stamina whenever she successfully lands a weapon thrown at an enemy.
Meanwhile, her second skill, Divide and Conquer, rewards her for separating zombies from their groups. As a result, she gets a damage boost when attacking isolated zombies.
If you pick Amy, you will be using her athletic abilities to assassinate single targets. You will also be greatly rewarded for using thrown weapons.
Ryan
A bulky muscular man with an extremely pessimistic personality, Ryan only cares about getting back with his brother.
For his innate skills, we have Retaliation where Ryan gets a decent force boost after blocking or dodging an attack. His other skill is Seesaw which makes him regain some health whenever he knocks down a zombie.
His playstyle centers around dealing counter-attacks, making him the tank of the group.
You will want to use blunt weapons when playing as him since they make the most of the force boost from Retaliation.
Dani
This foul-mouthed punkette used to be part of roller derby teams, and she uses that same energy and force when dealing with zombies.
Her Thunderstruck innate skill causes her heavy attacks to deal a forceful explosion, allowing her to knock down zombies with the area of effect.
She also has Bloodlust which allows her to regain health by killing multiple zombies quickly.
She’s similar to Jacob in that she has an extremely offensive playstyle, though she doesn’t rely as heavily on swinging wildly. Thunderstruck makes her good for crowd control, as well.
Carla
This stunt rider and mechanic is completely unfazed by the zombie apocalypse, instead seeing it as a new challenge for her to overcome.
She has the Dig Deep skill which gives her a toughness boost when her health is critical. This allows her to soak up more damage, hopefully giving her a chance to finish fights or flee.
Her second skill is Mosh Pit which gives her a damage boost when surrounded by zombies.
Carla is a very resilient character and excels when she’s taking on a group of enemies. She’s the best character if you just want to jump into a group of zombies and start killingthem.
Bruno
Bruno is a clever rascal who’s always trying to think one step ahead. He always comes up with a plan for any given situation.
Bruno’s first skill is Backstab which grants him a moderate damage boost when dealing hits from behind. His second skill is Rapid Reprisal which increases his agility and heavy attack charge speed after a successful block or dodge.
Just like Ryan, he relies on using counterattacks as one of my main means of attack. However, he’s more of an assassin-type character and excels at taking enemies out using stealth and subterfuge.
Venezuelan gamer cursed by being interested by most games, resulting in a ridiculous backlog he’ll never be able to conquer. Been gaming for over two decades now! Few things exemplify his wide variety in gaming tastes as the fact that he’s a big fan of both Souls games and the Atelier series at the same time. Also a big fan of Yakuza/Like a Dragon, Deadly Premonition, Zero Escape, and Dead Rising, among others. Considers Lost Judgment and Sekiro to both be masterpieces.
