Soul Trap is a pretty useful Mysticism spell you can use in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, but you’ll need to buy it first.

This spell allows you to trap the souls of other living beings in any empty Soul Gem. The name is pretty apt, all things considered! This is mostly useful due to Soul Gems being required to charge up Enchanted items. Being able to freely trap souls will allow you to keep a steady supply of Soul Gems!

In this guide, we’ll tell you where to go to be able to buy the Soul Trap spell.

Where To Buy Soul Trap Spell | The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered

The Soul Trap spell is, thankfully, pretty easy to get. You can purchase it from every single Mages’ Guild hall in Cyrodiil, in fact. As an example, we’ll use the Mages’ Guild hall in Chorrol, which we’ve marked on the map above for you.

Simply enter the Mages’s Guild hall there and talk to the main NPC, Alberic Little in this case. Then, just select the Purchasing Spells icon on the bottom left corner of the screen.

As you can see, he has Soul Trap as one of the many spells he sells. Soul Trap itself costs around 360 Gold, depending on the NPC’s Disposition and whether you Haggle or not.

Also, as we mentioned before, Soul Trap is mostly used to fill empty Soul Gems. Soul Gems are primarily used for Enchanting items. If you want to know more about the Enchantment system, check out our complete Enchanting guide.

That aside, do note that the NPCs sometimes might not allow you to purchase from them. They will not sell spells while they are resting, eating, or just wandering around. You have to wait for them to get to their spot on the main floor of the Mages’ Guild hall, which usually happens after 10 AM or so. Wait for them to get to their post, basically.

Nonetheless, that’s all you need to know to be able to buy the Soul Trap spell in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered. If you want to purchase many more spells, we have a guide on where to buy and learn more spells. It includes the location of every single spell vendor in the game!
