Noir has a new assignment for you. He’s heard that someone’s tampering with the local basketball equipment. He doesn’t know how or why, and definitely doesn’t know who’s doing it either. It’s up to you to investigate and get to the bottom of this case!
In this guide, we’ll tell you the locations for all of the tampered basketball equipment for “Case #29 The Sporty Smuggler” in Fortnite.
Investigate Tampered Basketball Equipment Locations | Fortnite
You’ll start the “Investigate Tampered Basketball Equipment” task after you speak to Noir at Seaport City. This is the first part of “Case #29 The Sporty Smuggler”, which is available during Winterfest 2024.

Noir is on the top floor of the tall white and blue building in the middle of Seaport City.
Once you get to the building, just look for Noir and talk with him to accept his quest. Try to be fast, though, as other players like to camp near the area to eliminate anyone trying to do Noir’s quests. It’s a hotspot currently, so be careful.
Now, you’ll need to investigate the tampered basketball equipment at three different locations across the current Fortnite island. You can visit these locations in any order you wish, and they’re all near POIs. Let’s go over each one of them!
Foxy Floodgate
The first location we’ll go to is the Foxy Floodgate, so let’s use it to explain the whole investigation process.
You have to get to the basketball court on the lower level of the floodgate, right outside of the complex’s entrance.
Once you get there, you’ll notice that one of the hoops has a glowing paper under it. Approach it and your screen will turn black and white, letting you know this is the right spot. Inspect the paper sheet under the hoop to find a receipt and mark this location as done.
This is the same process you’ll need to do for all 3 of these tampered basketball equipment locations. It’s pretty simple, thankfully!
Hopeful Heights
The basketball court here is on the southernmost part of Hopeful Heights.
Investigate below the southern hoop to find the receipt.
Masked Meadows
Lastly, at least if you’ve followed our order, is the basketball court in Masked Meadows.
It’s on the easternmost part of the POI. Check under the eastern hoop to find the receipt here!
So, there you have it! You now know the exact locations for all of the tampered basketball equipment you need to investigate in Fortnite. Get all the receipts and you can then continue the quest by heading to Masked Meadows and talking with Santa Shaq. Then, simply return to Noir at Seaport City to complete the quest.
