A Giant Turtle Has Been Spotted in the Area | Fortnite Chapter 6
Similar to some other event NPCs, like the Earth Sprites, the Great Turtle doesn’t have a set location. Instead, it can appear in any big body of water on the map. Its exact location is randomly chosen at the start of each match, however! Nonetheless, the map above shows all possible spawn locations for the Giant Turtle.

Thankfully, the Great Turtle is also true to its name! It’s pretty big, so you can easily spot it from above even while you’re gliding down onto the island from the Battle Bus. You can see it in the example above.
Once you manage to find the turtle, try to land on its back. Just landing on it should automatically complete the “A Giant Turtle Has Been Spotted in the Area” quest in Fortnite Chapter 6. As a reward, you’ll get one full Battle Pass level up!
Additionally, you can also talk to Ryuji who’s atop the Great Turtle’s back. He’ll ask you for help freeing the turtle from some Dark Thorns on its shell.
The Dark Thorns are large wooden spikes that seem to have some red dark crystals and energy surrounding them. Simply smack them or shoot them with any weapon you can to destroy them. There should be 5 in total randomly spread across the Great Turtle’s shell.
Once you’ve broken the Dark Thorns, return to Ryuji to get a Rare Chest as a reward. It will also complete the “Help Ryuji free The Great Turtle of Dark Magic Thorns” quest! Do note, though, that only one player can do this quest per match.
