How to Unlock & Basics

Unlocking the Arcade | Zenless Zone Zero: Complete Arcade Guide

You can unlock the Arcade once you complete the Main Commission “[Investigation] The Proxy and The Hare”. It’s one of the earliest quests in Zenless Zone Zero, so it shouldn’t take too long! At that point, you’ll get a message from Billy telling you about the Godfinger Arcade on Sixth Street. Doesn’t really matter what you answer to him, but tell him you want to go and he’ll guide you there!

At the Arcade, you can partake in a variety of minigames in one of two modes:

  • Arcade Mode – The basic mode, is always available for you to play. Play minigames and complete Achievements by reaching milestones to get a variety of rewards, such as Polychromes. At of this writing, you can earn around 700 Polychromes by completing all of the minigame Achievements. Those are mainly used in the game’s Gacha system, so they’re a nice reward!
  • Event Mode – A rotating time-limited mode. This mode’s availability varies, but it provides much better rewards than Arcade Mode does. The gist is the same, however; you just have to play minigames and complete objectives to earn event currency which you can trade for rewards. Make sure to check the events out whenever they’re available!

Lastly, it’s worth noting that the Arcade is only open during the Morning and Afternoon. Keep that in mind when you plan to visit it. Don’t worry though, the in-game day-night cycle isn’t based on real-life time. You’re not forced to play early IRL!

Anyway, with the basics laid out, let’s now go over the minigames currently available at the Godfinger Arcade.

Snake Duel

Snake Duel | Zenless Zone Zero: Complete Arcade Guide

Remember Snake? It’s back! In Zenless Zone Zero form. This is the classic game where you eat fruits to make your snake longer and longer. Try to avoid colliding with yourself or other snakes as you keep collecting the rhombus-shaped fruits and Diamonds to get higher scores and earn Achievements.

As a twist on the classic Snake formula, sometimes spikey balls will spawn as obstacles. It should go without saying, but you should make sure to avoid them. What you shouldn’t avoid, however, are the two powerups you can find:

Speed Power-Up

Speed – This power-up appears as a small green box with arrows pointing up. Pick it up and you’ll get a boost of speed for a short time.

Lucky Box Power-Up

Lucky Box – Pick this box and you’ll really be lucky! It turns your snake into a rainbow, giving it invincibility and higher speed for a period of time. This also lets you kill other snakes, which turns them into fruits and Diamonds you can collect!

It’s a pretty classic and simple game with just a few little twists in Zenless Zone Zero. Easy to pick up and play, and a good way to earn some Polychromes!

Soul Hounds III

Soul Hounds III | Zenless Zone Zero: Complete Arcade Guide

If you’ve ever played any of the Mr. Driller games, you should feel at home with this Arcade minigame. Soul Hounds III in Zenless Zone Zero plays like a nearly complete imitation of that classic puzzle game. The gist of the game is that you have to keep drilling down, destroying color-matched blocks, and avoiding traps while digging. All the while you manage your Energy levels and try to avoid being crushed by falling blocks!

Thankfully, there’s a variety of items you can pick up to help make things easier for you:

Pomegranate

Pomegranate – Big red floating fruits. Picking them up will instantly recover a part of your Energy, making them crucial for reaching the lower depths.

Silver Coin

Silver Coins – These grant you a variety of random offensive power-ups, such as turning all blocks into the same color or making sturdy blocks break down faster. In short, they’ll help you dig down even faster than you normally would!

Gold Coin

Gold Coins – Unlike the Silver Coins, these grant you random defensive power-ups. For example, they can grant you invincibility for a period of time or completely protect you from the next damage you take. They’re key for surviving down in the depths of Soul Hounds III, so make sure to get all of them!

Ultimately, your goal is simply to keep digging further down while trying to survive. The further down you go, the better your score will be! This will also help you unlock Achievements for Polychromes, just like Snake Duel.

That brings us to the end of our complete Arcade guide. Now you know everything there is to know about these rewarding minigames in Zenless Zone Zero. Make sure to shoot for high scores, complete Achievements, and amass a large amount of Polychromes!
