Opening the War Gate isn’t simple. You can’t just open it yourself, and there are no nearby levers or anything like that out in the open. Instead, you’ll need to explore this Plane of Oblivion for a bit before you can get it open.
If that doesn’t sound too daunting, read on! We’ll tell you how to get this pesky War Gate open.
How to Open War Gate in Kvatch Portal | The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered
As soon as you enter the Oblivion Portal in Kvatch, turn to the left. You should be facing northwest, as shown above. Follow the linear path there, walking along the edge of the area. Be careful not to get hit by the falling boulders along the path!
Eventually, you’ll go uphill and reach a more open area with multiple paths. Take the path to the south.
For further reference, you want to follow the path that leads to the tower shown above.
You’ll eventually reach the tower itself. There will also be a large locked gate there. Go to your right once you see the gate and enter the Blood Well.
Once inside the Blood Well, hop on the Corpse Masher in the middle. It’s a circular plate with holes and spikes. Be careful not to touch the spiky ends! Either way, activate it and it will allow you to reach the top of the tower.
When you get to the top, look for a large molten-looking lever labeled as a Geared Batten. Interact with it to open the War Gate. All that’s left is to ride the Corpse Masher back down and leave the tower, returning to the Plane of Oblivion.
Back in the Plane of Oblivion, go directly east from the Blood Well tower. Follow the path until you’re forced to drop down to a lower path.
Then, just turn to your right to face south. You’ll see a large bridge with the Portal you used to enter this plane on the other end. That also means the War Gate on the end of the bridge is open! So, that’s all you need to do to open the Kvatch Portal War Gate in Oblivion Remastered.
Gamer cursed by being interested by most games, resulting in a ridiculous backlog he’ll never be able to conquer. Been gaming for over two decades now! Few things exemplify his wide variety in gaming tastes as the fact that he’s a big fan of both Souls games and the Atelier series at the same time. Also a big fan of Yakuza/Like a Dragon, Deadly Premonition, Zero Escape, and Dead Rising, among others. Considers Lost Judgment and Sekiro to both be masterpieces.
I can’t get past the Corpse Masher. When I step onto it I just bounce around and fall off as it rises. I’ve tried moving around and jumping back on but it gets to high for me to do so. Help!
