The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion has just gotten a fresh remaster, and so many people are only now just discovering the wonders in this classic game. In case you did not know or have already forgotten, there are various DLCs in the original that add overpowered stuff for you, such as this Frostcrag Spire house. Here is how to get it and what you can add to it.
Frostcrag Spire House Guide & All Home Unlocks
The Frostcrag Spire is essentially a wizard’s tower that was first added as a DLC to the original game all those years back. Remember, this game is one of the first to actually push out the concept of “DLCs” in the form that we know now!
This place is one of the best houses in the game, and you actually get it for completely free as soon as you leave the tutorial. In order to get there, one of the easiest ways is to fast travel to the stables just outside of Bruma.
From there, you can run straight to the east until you find a tower on the mountains. You cannot miss it, as it has a very distinctive shape and is directly to the east from where Bruma is located.
When you first reach the outside part of the tower, you will get a quest called Frostcrag Spire, in which you are told to find a way inside. All you need to do is walk up to the front door and use a lockpick to open the average lock.
Inside, you will find a dusty tome on the ground, which will give you more information about the tower. The second you open the tome, your quest will immediately update and tell you that you must buy certain items in order to restore the tower to its former glory.
To do this, you just have to go to the Mystic Emporium and look for the NPC named Aurelinwae. This store is found in the Imperial City’s Market District, so head over there and check out their stock.
Technically you are already done as far as officially owning the tower. However, almost nothing in here will work yet, and you do not have any facilities since you have not purchased any. So, head to the Mystic Emporium and get the following items:
Frostcraft Alchemy Lab – This will add an alchemy table that will give you a passive bonus while working nearby, making it a great spot to train your alchemy skill or just to make potions in general. Prioritize this if you love using that skill.
Frostcrag Bedroom Area – This upgrade adds a bed to the tower, as well as a few storage options that will never reset, allowing you to dump all of your stuff here whenever you don’t need them. The upgrade also includes a few miscellaneous decorations.
Frostcrag Library Area – This adds a whole lot of books to the tower, as well as other bits of furniture. It is mostly a cosmetic upgrade if you do not care about the ingame books, but it does make the place feel more like the wizard’s tower that it should be.
Frostcrag Vault Area – Finally, this upgrade will add a whole bunch of chests and other alternative forms of storage in an entirely separate room that you can access via a portal in the main area. These are all usable and can be good for people who like organizing their storage.
It is worth noting that these items listed above will have varying prices depending on a bunch of other external factors. Be ready with a few thousand gold, as their prices can vary wildly from 1000 to 2000+.
That is really all you need to know about this location, and you are free to explore the tower at your own pace to check what else it has to offer. The only other things worth noting that haven’t been mentioned yet are the large garden in the living area, which contains a lot of alchemy ingredients.
There is also the door leading to the balcony at the living area. Here, you will find portals leading to every single chapter of the MagesGuild all around the map. This makes it a convenient base of operations for members, or even people looking to join.
Since joining the Mages Guild for the first time requires you to get a recommendation from each of the chapters, this set of portals can save you quite a bit of time.
And that wraps up this guide, as you should now have a fully functional wizard’s tower completely yours to take advantage of. While you are here, did you know that there are more originally DLC-exclusive houses that you can get in the game?
