With the release of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 comes a whole new generation of players who have likely never touched the first one before. The game has a lot of very complicated and somewhat “realistic” mechanics, and the way alchemy works is one of them. In this guide, we will try to get you through the basics of brewing your own potions in the game.
Alchemy Guide – How to Brew Potions
Early in the game, you are actually guided through what is essentially a tutorial for alchemy in Herbwoman Bozhena’s hut. After gathering the herbs she requested, your next step is to brew a healing potion.
To do this, enter her hut and interact with the alchemy bench to start the process. The best recommendation here is to simply follow the tips that show up on screen.
As you follow the instructions on the upper left corner of the screen, you will be led to the recipe book. It is already conveniently opened at the Chamomile decoction page showing you the entire process and required ingredients, which you should already have.
The recipe calls for wine, 2 handfuls of chamomile, and a handful of sage. From there, the recipe tells you to do the following:
Step 1 – Add the chamomile and boil for one turn.
Step 2 – Grind the sage and add it to the cauldron.
Step 3 – Pour it into a bottle.
So, first, look to the shelves to your left and select the jug of wine. Henry will then pour the base onto the cauldron. Next, you will be tasked with moving the cauldron over the fire, which you can do by simply looking at it and pressing whichever button prompt is on the screen.
Next, press the button prompt for the bellows to start fanning the fire. Once your base is boiling, you will be told tomove the cauldron out of the fire again, so do that.
Finally, for this part, open your inventory and select the required ingredients for the potion we are trying to make. In this case, it will be the chamomile and sage in your bag.
Following the recipe mentioned earlier, you have to take two handfuls of chamomile, so interact with the bag and then click on the cauldron to add one portion there. You will have to do this twice.
Next, you will have to lower the cauldron so that it starts boiling again. Immediately after doing this, flip the sandglass, because we need to boil it for one turn. When the sandglass has finished doing its thing, raise the cauldron to stop the boiling process, as it has been a single turn now.
Next, grab a handful of sage and interact with the mortar that is near the cauldron. Start grinding the sage and then drop it into the cauldron once it has been fully processed. You are almost done, as the recipe does not call for it to be boiled again.
Finally, grab a phial from the shelves just below where you got the wine from earlier. Pour in the mix from the cauldron and you should receive the chamomile decoction. Congratulations, you have just made a potion!
That is the bare basics of alchemy. There are various other recipes to explore throughout the game, and you should be able to figure things out from there. Just follow the recipe books closely and take your time with it, and you should be able to make all kinds of supplies later on!
