You’ll need to find a Khajiit named J’skar if you wish to get the Bruma Mages’ Guild recommendation in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered.

Jeanne Frasoric, the head of the chapter, is wondering about J’skar’s whereabouts. He’s one of the guild’s mages and he hasn’t been seen for days. Help her find him and the recommendation is all yours!

Read on and we’ll tell you every possible way to find the sneaky J’skar.

How to Find J’skar for the Bruma Recommendation | The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered

The first thing you need to do is to go to Bruma. You can find it in the northernmost part of Cyrodiil, in the Jerall Mountains region. The Bruma Mages’ Guild hall itself is in the northern part of the city, as well.

Once you enter the Bruma Mages’ Guild, talk with Jeanne Frasoric at the desk. Ask her for a Recommendation and she’ll ask you to find J’skar, a Khajiit who appears to be missing. She’ll also tell you to talk with Volarano, a High Elf that you can find wandering inside the Bruma Mages’ Guild hall.

Now, there are two potential methods you can use to find J’skar. Let’s quickly go over both of them!

Helping Volarano

The first method is to talk with Volarano, as Jeanne instructed. Talk with Volarano and get his Disposition to 70, then inquire about J’skar’s whereabouts. Volarano will ask you to help him with a prank but going upstairs in the hall and stealing Jeanne’s Manual of Spellcraft. If you agree, he’ll give you the Minor Latch Crack spell to help.

If you follow this method, just do as Volarano says. Steal the Manual of Spellcraft and meet with Volarano in his room after 10 PM or so. Once you do that, ask him about J’skar again and he’ll appear in front of you. They’ll explain their prank, finishing this part of the quest.

After that, just return to Jeanne and tell her what happened. She’ll thank you for explaining and give you the recommendation you needed.

Snitching on J’skar

For the second method, you’ll need the Detect Life and Dispel Other spells. Start by casting Detect Life, which should reveal the invisible J’skar by surrounding him with a purple glow. He’s most often in the hall’s basement, as shown above, though he’s not guaranteed to be there.

Once you’ve located J’skar, just cast Dispel on him to get rid of his invisibility. J’skar won’t be too happy about you ruining his prank, but he will concede. All that’s left is for you to return to Jeanne and tell her about J’skar. She’ll thank you for your help and give you the recommendation.

So, there you have it! That’s all you need to do obtain the recommendation from the Bruma chapter of the Mages’ Guild in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered.

Speaking of guilds, do you also want to join the Thieves Guild? Well, we have a guide on how to join the Thieves Guild, too! Don’t worry, you can join multiple guilds without any conflict.
