In fact, there’s a total of 3 domains that you can find in the new desert area of Sumeru. However, you will need to unlock them all first before you can head inside.

How to Unlock All Sumeru Desert Domains 3.1 in Genshin Impact
As mentioned, there are three new domains in the new desert area. These are the Garden of Endless Pillars, Red Desert Threshold, and Altar of Mirages. Here’s how to unlock each of them:
Garden of Endless Pillars
You can find this domain in the northwestern part of Sumeru’s desert. Here, you’ll obtain a good number of loots such as Primogems and more upon completing the domain. To unlock this, you’ll need to solve the Pyro Totems puzzle nearby.

Genshin Impact: Wooden Model Alpaca Puzzle SolutionSep 3, 2024There are 5 pyro totems you need to activate in order to unlock the domain. However, there’s a specific order that you need to follow in order to properly activate them.
Specifically, you’ll want to look for a totem with no flaming flowers beside it for your first target. Once you found it, make sure to hit it with a pyro attack.
Next, you’ll then need to look for the totem with only one flaming flower beside it, then the totem with two flowers, and so on. In case you’re wondering, flaming flowers are these tiny flowers with a fiery glow as you can see up ahead in the above image.
After activating all totems, an Exquisite Chest will then spawn. At the same time, the entrance to the Garden of Endless Pillars will open.
Red Desert Threshold
For this one, you’ll need to follow the Golden Slumber quest. To start the quest, head over to Aaru Village and look for Bonifaz, an NPC who is wearing a yellow shirt. Speak with him and finish the conversation, after which he will then give you the quest.
After that, you simply have to follow the marker as this will lead you to the domain. At the end of the trail, you’ll see a massive hole in the ground. Drop down to the hole and make your way to the bottom where you can find the entrance to the domain.
You don’t really have to do anything to unlock it. Simply get close to the door and interact with it in order to unlock it.
Altar of Mirages
This one is a bit long as it requires you to complete the Golden Slumber questline earlier on. This will cause the glyphs on the Scarlet Sand Slate to light up. Aside from that, you should also complete the Dual Evidence mission.
Completing these two will fully light up the slate which will then grant you full access to every door it can open.
Next, you need to go to the Khemenu Temple which is just a bit east of the Mausoleum of Deshret. Head inside the temple, turn right, and head inside the smaller entrance. Keep moving forward until you come across a closed entrance with a door on a pedestal outside.
Simply interact with the book to open the door. Afterward, drop down the hole in the ground, and you should be able to find the entrance to the domain at the bottom. Simply interact with it to unlock it.
