The “Awakening’s Real Sound” is the second quest of the “Khvarena of Good and Evil” questline that was added to Genshin Impact with its 3.6 update.

It’s quite a long quest with some tricky parts, so we understand if you need help with it. This guide will help you with every part of this quest!

For the first part of the quest, you should head toward the marker leading to the giant tree. You will find Nasejuna there who will give you your next objective.

Again, follow the marker toward the location Nasejuna has mentioned. As you make your way there, you will be led to a cave guarded by Rifthounds!

Take them out however you see fit and then look for a nearby Khvarena. Approach them and they will move over to the cave entrance, clearing the cluster of Gray Crystals blocking your path.

Inside the cave, Paimon will comment on something being buried beneath the sand piles. You can use any Anemo attack on these piles to remove them to reveal whatever was buried under them.

You should find the first drum on the dead end to your left as soon as you enter the cave, so just use Anemo on the sand pile and get the drum.

Nasejuna will investigate the area and then task you with gathering 5 drum scores spread across the Girdle of the Sands.

While this is a bit annoying, they are all marked on your map. Just rush over to their locations and get them, then you will need to find the remaining Kory Drums.

You will need to complete three different trials to collect them.

Trial of Submerged Waves

Follow the quest marker east of the Asipattravana Swamp to find this trial. It’s a cave on the edge of the marked cliff.

Use your grapple across the pool of water and interact with the bell on the spot of land. You will need to use Sorush to move a Four-Leaf Sigil so that you can collect 4 Dendro Particles.

Simply place the Four-Leaf Sigil at the end of the lines of particles and then grapple onto it with your character, you’re given ample time to do so.

The water level will lower, allowing you to explore more of the room.

Find the next bell for a similar challenge. For this one, place the sigil high up so that you can grapple onto it and glide down. It’s okay to touch the water; just get the particles in time.

After the water level lowers again, find the final bell. The challenge is much like the first, just with more particles at once. Complete it to drain the room.

Now, just follow the marker toward the opening in the cave to find the Kory Drum in this area.

Trial of Ferocious Thunder

This one is south of the Asipattravana Swamp on a road that’s barely visible on your map. It’s yet another cave.

Enter the cave and find the thundering bell in the middle of the room. This trial is a lot simpler than the previous one: you just need to eliminate all opponents within 240 seconds!

Pull off your best moves to take care of the enemies swiftly, then follow the marker to pick up the second Kory Drum.

Trial of Fluorescent Flame

This one is within an open cavern west of the Gate of Zulqarnain close to the map’s edge. It’s a large room with the trial bell sitting around the middle.

Approach the bell and interact with it to have a small flame spawn next to you. Bring this flame to the altars around the room, lighting them all up before the flame expires!

The altars are small squares on the ground, and they kinda blend into the ground. However, they are marked with a pair of torches in front of them.

Once you light up all the altars at once, the trial will be completed. Follow the marker to pick up the last Kory Drum.

Return to the Giant Tree

With all drums in your possession, return to the giant tree where the quest started. Follow the quest markers to place the drums around the tree, starting the final portion of this long quest.

Once the drums are in place, approach them and play every score on them. When you interact with a drum, you will get two options: “Begin Performance” and “Check Drum Score”.

Check the score first and you will see a drawing of a tree with some leaves, which tells you what to do when performing. Read from left to right.

The leaves’ instructions are as follows:

  • Leaf with a small hole – Do a regular attack.
  • Leaf with a big hole – Do nothing.
  • Leaf without holes – Do a plunging attack.

Once you memorize the pattern for the drum, begin the performance. The drum will light up when you’re meant to hit it, following the sequence of the leaves.

For “do nothing”, just wait for it to stop glowing and then glow again. Perform the score for all of the drums and you will have finally completed this quest!
