In fact, opening up these doors is also one of the quests you’ll need to do currently. Level up your Hero Rank to A or higher, then rush to the Supernova Academy. Interact with doors showing your same rank to open them and claim the rewards within!
In this guide, we’ll tell you how to complete this quest and how the Hero Rank system works.
Open Locked Doors in Academy Tech Labs While at Hero Rank A or Above | Fornite Quest Guide
As we mentioned before, Hero Rank is a new mechanic currently available in Fortnite Battle Royale. You’ll start every match at Rank C, which you can see on the right side of the screen, right below your map. To reach A Rank, you’ll need to get about 1000 Points. However, the exact numbers aren’t known yet, since the mechanic is still new.

To get points, you’ll need to perform “Heroic Deeds”, as the game calls them. These are the following actions that give points and how many they give:
- Return a Sprite to a Shrine – 250
- Eliminate one of Mask Maker Daigo’s or a Scout Spire’s guards – 25
- Eliminate a boss NPC – 1500
- Eliminate or knock a player – The points depend on the player’s rank, as follows:
- C Rank – 25 (Teams), 100 (Solos)
- B Rank – 75 (Teams), 150 (Solos)
- A Rank – 100 (Teams), 200 (Solos)
- S Rank – 125 (Teams), 250 (Solos)
- S+ Rank – 150 (Teams), 300 (Solos)
- Level up Mastery for Myst Gauntlets, Tracking Visor, Killswitch Revolvers, or Bass Boost – 250
- Survive a Storm Phase – 100 for the first phase, with 25 more for each following phase.
Worth noting that teams share the points, meaning that all members of the team will be at the same Hero Rank at all points. This can help you reach Hero Rank A if you’re playing with friends.
Opening The Doors!
Once you reach at least Hero Rank A, go to the Supernova Academy POI. It’s on the north-central part of the current iteration of the island, as shown above.
When you get there, just look for any doors with A or higher Hero Rank letters on them and interact with them. They will open up, allowing you to collect various reward caches and boons. Do be warned, though, that other players can open and loot these before you do!
For the sake of the “Open Locked Doors in Academy Tech Labs while at Hero Rank A or above” quest in Fortnite, you’ll need to open a total of 3 such doors. These don’t need to be done on a single match, however. You can do them across multiple matches.
Nonetheless, that’s all you need to know to be able to level up your Hero Rank and open up these pesky doors! You’ll want to do this on every match, even after you already completed the quest. The rewards are certainly worth the effort, at least.
